Does the mere thought of Italy make you sigh with fond memories, hunger pangs, or travel desire? Luckily in Melbourne, Italian food is pretty celebrated. But it's about to get even better, with the release of extra tickets to two sell-out Good Food Month events featuring Osteria Francescana's Massimo Bottura. That sounds better than gelato on a 40 degree day!
Do we hear fangirl (and boy) squeals? Or is that just us? If you're not squealing, here's why you should be… Osteria Francescana is ranked numero uno in Italy, and uber chef Massimo Bottura is famous for his contemporary and creative representation of the Emilia-Romagna region. Not only number one in Italy, Osteria Francescana was also listed as third in 2014's World's 50 Best Restaurants list!
Culinary king, Massimo Bottura himself is gracing Australia's shores as part of The Age Good Food Month, and also to present his new book, Never Trust a Skinny Italian Chef. We are DYING to dine with him – and now we have a second chance!
Aperitivo Moderno with Massimo Bottura and friends
Hosted at Mark Best's Pei Modern, Bottura will raise a glass with famed local chefs such as Dan Hunter (Brae), Frank Camorra (MoVida) and Dave Verheul (The Town Mouse). On November 26th from 6pm, you can enjoy an evening in this awesome company, sipping on aperitivi and munching on spuntini inspired by Bottura's modern take on regional Italian cooking! The best of the best in conversation and digestion, plus the cost includes Massimo Bottura's new book. Where the heck do we sign up!

Whilst in da hood, Bottura plans to explore his love of contemporary art, presenting a talk over a light lunch with Age Arts Editor, Debbie Cuthbertson. Held at ACCA (Australian Centre for Contemporary Art) in Southbank, Melbourne, this is an opportunity to see another, lesser known side of the celebrated Italian chef! Tickets will include an antipasto lunch, a glass of wine, and a copy of Never Trust a Skinny Italian Chef.
