Found: Cheap CBD Eats That Are Tasty AND Healthy

We've all been there. The clock strikes 12, your tummy starts rumbling and the inner struggle of trying to decide what you want to eat for lunch begins. Oh, the choices!

To make things more difficult, do you try and track down cheap eats in Melbourne, or do you focus on finding healthy lunch options instead? Then there's the whole taste-factor — I mean surely you all want your lunch to, you know, taste good?!

It can be hard to find something that satisfies all three, particularly in the CBD, however this is where Crisp Creative Salad comes to the rescue.

With two handy locations in the CBD, Southern Cross Lane and Goldsbrough Lane, Crisp tick all the boxes; they dish up some of the best cheap eats in Melbourne, their salads and wraps are some of the healthiest CBD lunch options you'll find, and most importantly, they are lip-smackingly delicious.

The great thing about Crisp is that their salads are all made to order, ensuring maximum taste and freshness. Simply pick from one of the Chef's Cut options (10 pre-designed salads that are all nutritious, delicious and priced under $12) or put the chef's hat on and create your own variety — really, it's all up to you!

That said, we often choose from the Chef's Cut menu (otherwise we'd be there umming and ahhing for hours) so we were pretty darn excited when the Crisp crew announced two seasonal additions to their salad offering.

The first cab off the rank is Crisp's Kale Cleanse Salad — that's right, KALE, that leafy green that everyone seems to be talking about.

High in fibre, iron and vitamins A, C and K (among a host of other health benefits), kale is one of those salad ingredients that we just can't get enough of. It's damn delicious too and Crisp agree — they've taken Tuscan kale and mixed it with celery, peas, spinach, quinoa, beetroot, mint, almonds AND Danish feta (along with a drizzle of lemon and olive oil) for a filling salad that packs a big flavour punch.

For those of you counting calories, you can rest assured that Crisp's Kale Cleanse Salad passes the test — it has only 368 calories per serve!

If you're after something (literally) a little meatier, then Crisp's other seasonal salad, the Pulled Pork Tortilla, will definitely float your boat.

Combining slow cooked pulled pork (droooool), shredded cheese, capsicum, corn, tortilla crisps, tomato, cos lettuce and spicy jalapeno lime dressing, the Pulled Pork Tortilla will have you wishing it was lunchtime, all the time. And with only 404 calories per serve, we see no reason not to order and scoff one now, and then take home a second for later.

Now 'scuse us while we go back to drooling over pulled pork…
