If we had to name one of our favourite things in life, coffee would rank pretty highly. Who are we kidding—it'd probably take out prime position. So when we found out about next Sunday’s Coffee Fest, taking place at the Immigration Museum as part of their awesome North South Feast West series of events, we nearly jumped out of our skins with excitement (or maybe it was that fourth double shot…).
A day out in the coffee capital of the world, sampling the goods and chewing the fat with other joyously-jittery coffee fiends? Sign. Us. Up.
That’s right, next Sunday 14th June, in the heart of the city, Immigration Museum will be perking up Coffee Fest-goers with a delicious array of international coffee tastings, workshops, ceremonies, and coffee readings, plus live musical performances from the likes of Alma Mater Trio, instrumental Ethio-jazz 7-piece band The Lalibelas, and Turkish tunes from Nevzat Eser. An event combining coffee, culture and multiculturalism—oh Melbourne, how we love you!
Ever wondered the difference between a Vietnamese and Turkish cup of Joe? Ponder no more while you enjoy your pour-over. Trying to figure out the key to the perfect espresso martini? There’s a Coffee Cocktail Workshop for that! Greenie in a beanie? Tune in to the ‘Do it on the Roof’ audio presentations to find out if climate change is all a storm in a coffee cup, and pick up tips on how to handle your left over coffee granules. (Hot tip: If frank body is your homie, Sarah Hardgrove will be running workshops on how to make your own coffee-based body scrub at home. This one’s worth the ticket price alone!)
If, like us, the coffee-cocktail combo gets your heart racing, make sure you book into Coffee Fest’s Coffee Cocktail Workshop with Black Pearl legend, Will Sleeman. Plus there’ll be food and drink from around the globe to soak it all up. Oh, Coffee Fest, where have you bean all my life? (#sorrynotsorry).
So don’t be a cold drip. Tickets to Immigration Museum’s Coffee Fest are on sale now!
