Colours of Cuba Takes Over Crown

By Ella Pleasant

Forget the siesta; it's fiesta-time, baby!

Launching tonight, The Colours of Cuba is bringing the spirit of Havana to Crown. The four-week fiesta will celebrate the rhythm, passion and flavours of the Caribbean nation with delectable feasts, free salsa classes, roving entertainers, photography exhibitions…and that's not even half of it!

Our first stop? Nobu, of course! The Japanese restaurant is offering an exclusive collection of Cuban-style cocktails with a twist, mixing aged rum with coconut, pineapple and yuzu liquor, and Havana dark rum with ginger syrup, fresh lime, vanilla and dry ginger…arrriba!

Your stomach doing the mambo? Crown's Cuban-style cuisine will fix that right up! The Waiting Room will be dishing out delicious tapas dishes, including crispy fried plantains, salsa fresca, black bean and sweet corn tacos, pulled pork sliders and croquet de carne, all to be washed down with a cocktail or three. We're eyeing off the Mary Pickford, a mix of rosemary-infused white rum, house-made strawberry spiced grenadine, pineapple juice and Maraschino liqueur.

Seeking something a little more casual? Indulge in the Cuban experience with Cotta+, Margo's and Jimbo & Rex, where you can dine on Classic Cuban Sandwiches, Mojito Chicken, Hemingway's Salmon...and that's just for starters! Or perhaps the buffet piques your fancy, with all-you-can-eat Cuban deliciousness from The Conservatory, Kitchen Workshop and Mesh.

At this point you're probably all heaving at the sides! The cure? Sashay away that pulled pork at a free salsa class, held at Groove Live Bar & Terrace every Wednesday night until the 3rd of September! You'll learn moves from 7pm, before local Cuban band, Vatos Locos, jumps on stage at 8pm. Quench your thirst with a Havana rum cocktail (what else?) and that's pretty much the happiest hump day you can have.
