A drive in indoor cinema lit up at night.

You had us at drive-in. Village Cinemas have teamed up with the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) to create Australia’s first indoor drive-in—they’re calling it the MCEC Drive In(Door) Cinema. Weather is no match for this drive-in, rain or shine, you can enjoy movies from the comfort of your own car.

The cinema will be open for matinee family sessions and evening sessions for the young at heart. The lineup features some cult family classics like Shrek, The Lion King and Frozen, as well as the new release Trolls: World Tour. For the adults, they’ll be serving all kinds of nostalgia with screenings of The Breakfast Club, Top Gun, Blues Brothers, Pulp Fiction and Clueless. Just take a scroll through the line-up—you’ll want to see them all.

Like any great drive-in, there will be snacks and drinks available through in-car ordering and delivery. Popcorn and choc tops will be on offer naturally, plus some special ice cream and doughnuts from food trucks Nitro 196 Below and The Dough Truck

With space for 174 cars, the Drive In(Door) Cinema will be running through the summer school holidays from Thursday 7 January to Sunday 24 January. Tickets are $40 per car, check out the session times here
