Holy croissant, the Flour Market is back!
After two stupendously huge outings in October and February just past, Flour Market is set to hit the Fitzroy Town Hall this Sunday 13th April, in what will be their biggest and best outing yet. Designed to bring flour, errrr we mean power, to the people, Flour Market can only be described as the bake sale to end all bake sales. That's right, girl scouts – your schoolyard efforts ain't got nuthin' on a Flour Market muffin!
Previous Flour Market participants such as 5 & Dime, Tivoli Road Bakery, Sweetie Pie & Cuddle Cakes and Cobb Lane (amongst many delicious others) are back, along with newbies Shuki & Louisa, Pierogi Pierogi, Books for Cooks, EDS Breads, NORA Tart and vegan masters, Botanical Cuisine. #Ermahgerd!!!
The team behind Flour Market, Everyday Coffee's Mark W Free, Open Season Studio's Seb Godfrey and Charlie Lawler, and Sarah Booth, have taken note of the madness of the past two bake sales, and have locked in the Fitzroy Town Hall – it's three times bigger, giving you the chance to explore and devour even more delicious treats than ever before.
Flour Market is not just about consumption though! Yet again, the baking extravaganza will give back to the community, with this year's Flour Market calling for a gold coin donation on entry, with all money raised going towards the Yarra City Council's Room to Create fund. Really, it's a win-win for everyone!
So who are our picks at Flour Market?
Cobb Lane – Flour Market wouldn't be the same if dessert king Matt Forbes and his Cobb Lane team weren't there! From the perfect croissants to devilish danishes, a pitstop at Cobb Lane is a Flour Market must!
Botanical Cuisine – With their array of mouth-watering desserts that are all organic, raw and vegan, Botanical Cuisine are easily one of the top picks at Flour Market. Seriously, their mint slice pudding is like heaven in a jar.
Sweetie Pie & Cuddle Cakes – Another bakery championing the vegan cause (in addition to being gluten free) is Sweetie Pie & Cuddle Cakes. Their delectable cupcakes are so darn good, you'll stop in your tracks and want to eat them all. Hot tip: try the chocolate!
Tivoli Road Bakery – Famous for his array of pastries and sweet treats, head baker Michael James will once again be bringing his South Yarra-based bakery to Flour Market. We'll be making a beeline for the incredible lemon curd doughnuts!
Everyday Coffee – All those delicious treats need to be washed down with something! What better to sip as you stock up on flaky, buttery pastries than a cup of joe from Everyday Coffee? It's up there with some of Melbourne's best.
And here's the best of the rest…
All Day Donuts
If you're already salivating reading this (we know we are!), then a red-hot tip is to purchase an early bird ticket. For only $10, you'll be allowed to enter Flour Market half an hour earlier than the rest of the crowd – and trust us, there WILL be a crowd. You better hurry though as there are only 100 early bird tickets available (purchase here) and god forbid, those wily girl scouts get in ahead of you!
