A great person once said “I didn’t choose the burger life, the burger life chose me”, and this phrase seems to ring true with a lot of Melburnian’s.
We’re all aware that Melbourne is suffering from an extremely bad case of burger fever at the moment, with new burger restaurants opening up on unsuspecting street corners at will and serving up creations that feature beef, chicken, and even your more vegetarian-friendly options.
So what better place than to bring all of these burger flipping legends than the Big Burger Biannual? This coming Labour Day, Alma Park East will once again play host to Melbourne’s biggest burger festival. Just like the ethos of the weekly Hank Marvin Market (in the same location), the Big Burger Biannual will focus on curating high quality produce, providence and sustainability.
Three burger aficionados will be judging burger competitions on the day like the “Meat Master” and “Chip Champ” awards, lucky event goers will also have the opportunity to get involved with the judging.
Fine burger purveyors that are confirmed to be attending so far include St. Burgs, Fancy Hank’s BBQ Joint, Skipping Girl Takeaway, Ron’s Handburger, Mr Burger, Brother Burger and many more. Stomping Ground Beer will be firing off some of that delicious amber liquid known as beer to keep your thirst quenched, alongside Willie Smith’s Cider.
There’s also something here for the burger fan with a remarkable sweet tooth with Little Big Sugar Salt, Whoopies Cookies, and Pop-up Crepes serving up some dessert, and if your canine friend is coming along the Canine Wellness Kitchen will be attending the big day as well.
When: Monday 13 March, 11am – 10pm
