Get ready, ‘cos a brand new street-food and produce market is opening very soon in St Kilda East! Yep, on August 1st, the Southside will say hello to the very colourful, the very cool, Hank Marvin! Named after cockney rhyming slang for when someone is ‘starving’, the new Alma Park digs will make sure it caters for just that: people who want to eat!
With rotating street-food vendors along the likes of Happy Camper Pizza, The Brulee Cart, Cobb Lane, Trailer Made, Little Mushroom Co, Pierogi Pierogi, and Hammer & Tong, there’ll be a whole new list of traders you’ll soon be on first name basis with. Plus you’ll be able to buy your fave, fine, fresh produce from a stack of other producers expected to trade in one of the 40 odd stalls.
Some of the new street-food vendors set to cause a fuss are Shtetl Bagels, who dish up mouth-watering bagels using wood-fired ovens, and Uncle Smallgoods, producers of some of the finest krakowska (air-cured sausage) and wiejska (country style sausage) outside of the Motherland—Yum!
Alongside all the glorious food we know and love, Hank Marvin also reveals its sensitive side, hosting stalls run by community groups and charity organisations.
“I’m hoping that we fill this gap in a way that invites people to make Hank Marvin their favourite local haunt. I want to create a village-like atmosphere where locals have a sense of ownership of the space and can explore an unrivalled collection of street food and fresh produce,” says Hank Marvin organiser, Paul Wesolek.
Hank Marvin will be open every Saturday all year round from 9am-3pm at 204 Dandenong Road. Yep Listers, this one’s a keeper.
