Okay, so traditionalists might argue that pizza is usually enjoyed for lunch or dinner, usually with cheese and more often than not accompanied by a glass of red… BUT, who says you can't have one for dessert, too? Definitely not us! Picture your sweetest, most decadent dessert ingredients lathered on top of an ever-so-sweet pizza base and, voila, you've got yourself a mighty yummy dessert pizza! So where can you get such a wonderful hybrid delight, you ask? Check out our list of Melbourne's best dessert pizzas below and get to it!

Do yourself a favour and get into Pinocchio on Toorak Road and pile your plate up high with the Fragole e Panna. Traslation: an amazing wood-fired dessert pizza with lashings and lashings of yummy Nutella, fresh strawberries and creamy homemade French vanilla ice-cream – Ah maze! For the wee price of just $12.90 you'll be treated to a MASSIVE serve of pure delicious-ness!

Our tip: take advantage of the all-you-can-eat pizza Mondays, then finish off with this bad boy – you might not be able to walk afterwards but you won't be disappointed! And if you're already a Pinocchio fan (who isn't?), you'll be happy to hear that these guys are going to be transforming their Kew sister restaurant, Geppetto's, into a brand new Pinocchio, too! Bonus.

Home to Melbourne's best pizza, Gradi have proven they can extend their pizza making talents to the dessert arena, too – and aren't we glad about that! Order the coffee and mascarpone calzone and immerse yourself in the ultimate indulgence. This heavenly delight has all the offerings of a delectable dessert, but the foldover functionality of a yummy calzone! You don't have to dig deep to find all the gooey good bits; this baby is packed to the max with rich flavours of coffee balanced perfectly with the addition of mascarpone. Wash it down with a cappuccino for the ultimate coffee fix or gobble it up on its own. One thing's for certain, you won't be leaving ANY behind!

For an exciting alternative to chocolate, why not give this decadent poached pear dessert pizza a spin? Rich with salted caramel and lemon thyme crumble, not only does this little beauty live up to the sweet stakes but it's also fabulously chewy and crunchy at the same time! Load all the flavours onto your fork for the largest of flavour explosions and savour the taste of the yummy nougat gelato for hours after you leave. We're still thinking about Baby's Pizza Dolce!

Like a good ol' fashioned rocky road? Like a good ol' fashioned rocky road on a pizza? Yep, us too! So you can imagine our excitement when we found Mr Wolf's yummy Rocky Road Pizzetta featuring chunks of Mr Wolf's house made rocky road deconstructed amid a scrumptious mess of Turkish delight, decadent chocolate and a large scoop of cream vanilla bean ice cream. This baby isn't as big as some of its dessert pizza competitors, but what it lacks in size, it certainly makes up for in flavour!

Nut-lovers unite! Grab your pals and check out Il Forno Pizzeria on Bray Street for the Nutella e Mandorila, featuring the classic hazelnut spread with the addition of wonderfully crushed almonds. SO you get 'the hazelnut chocolate spread that kids love to eat' AS WELL AS a plentiful dose of almonds – did someone say protein? Il Forno Pizzeria also has a great outdoor eating area, which is perfect for the summer months! Get a spot outside, enjoy your indulgent dessert pizza and get people watching. Life is good!

Pile a heap of your best buddies into your car and take a trip to Nunawading for one the most delicious dessert pizzas ever to grace your lips! Yep it's another Nutella baby but this one is made even more special with its heaped pile of super sweet diced strawberries! At Il Tavo, you'll get so many strawberries that you're pretty much getting your daily fill of fruit as well. Handy hey? Especially when you're inhaling a dessert pizza the size of a small family. But that's okay, you brought your friends too. Calories shared are calories spared, right?

The one with the crunch! If you get a thrill out of eating crunch-eriffic desserts, the Chocolate Pizza with a crunch is the best option for you. On the larger side of the dessert pizza scale, this larger than life dessert pizza is packed to the max (get it?) with loads of Max Brenner's signature melted chocolate that is 100% scrump-didly-umptious!  Add pink and white mini marshmallows, caramelised pecans, white chocolate drops… and wait for it…. CORNFLAKES and you've got yourself a dessert pizza with the lot! But consider yourself warned, this big boy is huuuuggeee, so make sure you bring friends!
