Melbourne’s Best Peanut Butter Everything

Peanut butter – how do I fully encompass your creamy, crunchy, decadent, soul-soothing, spreadable nature in words? If there’s glue that’s holding my (dangerously feeble) life together, it’s the existence of PB. Rightfully advancing from its place as a humble breakfast spread into a fully-fledged food feature, here are the best places to get your peanut butter everything. Go nuts for them.

Snickers Smoothie at Fourth Chapter

The only thing better than a Snickers Bar break at work (don’t judge me) is having an enormous, healthy, liquid version for breakfast. A suspiciously clean concoction by newly opened Fourth Chapter, this ridiculously decadent smoothie is made from PB, pea protein, almond milk, cacao and banana. If you have room, go for double peanut trouble and order their Peanut butter s’more waffle with salted caramel, grilled banana and marshmallow.

The PB stacks At The Grand Trailer Park Taverna

Steer away from the Nutella waffles (we feel your pain) and order a freshly made waffle stack filled with thick, creamy peanut butter parfait, fresh whipped cream, juicy strawberries and caramel sauce. If you want to level up on your PB eating game – The Grand Trailer Park Taverna's latest menu addition 'Campfire Cake' involves a PB parfait sandwiched between two slices of peanut butter and maple sponge, covered in peanut butter sauce and crushed peanuts, peanut praline, popcorn and salted caramel. Sugar, what sugar?

Salted Peanut Butter Caramel Froyo And Shake At YOMG

Glen Waverley

Someone intervene before I eat my body weight in froyo. With rotating flavours including the salty-sweet salted peanut butter caramel, load yourself up a (very) generous serve and top it with a helping (or seven) of peanuts and chocolate. To avoid PB-induced tears if the flavour isn’t available, head to the Glen Waverley YOMG for a nut-tastic salted peanut butter caramel deluxe shake.

Peanut Butter Parfait At Supernormal

Think rich, creamy, ice-cold parfait - crushed peanuts, salted caramel and soft chocolate marrying together to create the best peanut butter dessert since you started eating peanut butter out of the jar with a spoon. Thank you, Supernormal.

Crunchy Peanut Butter And Tomatoes At Square And Compass/Barry

Northcote, East Melbourne

Step away from the smashed avo. If you haven’t taken a leap of foodie faith and ordered the crunchy peanut butter with tomatoes and salt and pepper peanuts on toast at Barry (or sister café Square and Compass), you’ve been missing out on a glorious peanut buttery brunch. Spread (get it?) your horizons.

PB Donuts at Shortstop Coffee & Donuts, Doughboys Doughnuts & Doughnut Time

Peanut lovers might need to do some old-fashioned stalking, but donut-give up. You’ll find a nutty variety of PB donuts on rotating special at Shortstop Coffee & Donuts, Doughboys Doughnuts and Doughnut Time. Think Peanut Butter and Jam; or PB, caramel and chocolate donuts from Shortstop Donuts, choc and PB Peanut Buster donuts from Doughboys Doughnuts or the cheeky Build Me Buttercup featuring Reese’s PB cups from Doughnut Time. Good luck choosing just one.

Peanut Butter And Celery Bonbons At Bibelot

South Melbourne

Like the healthy celery stick and peanut butter snacks your mum used to make, only delicious. And absolutely nowhere near as healthy. Featuring other bonbons like capsicum-yoghurt and coriander, trust us when we say that Bibelot’s PB and celery bonbon is worth every bite! If you’re not feeling food-venturous, order a serve of their peanut butter and jam, or chocolate and peanut crunch gelato.

PB Hot Choc At Bowery To Williamsburg

If you’ve only been surviving the last few weeks of Melbourne winter through a constant stream of hot tea, coffee and/or hot choc - you’ll be overjoyed at Bowery To Williamsburg’s newest buttery addition. The genius team have combined our love for steaming hot choc with Reese’s peanut butter cups to create what we can only describe as sugary winter gold.

Peanut Butter Butterbing At Butterbing

A significantly sugar-y step up from the humble peanut butter sandwich, Butterbing’s peanut butter Butterbing involves a generous (even by my standards) slathering of top secret peanut butter spread sandwiched between two pieces of their equally top-secret chewy, heavenly brownie. You won’t even regret smashing this one (or three) afterwards, they’re that delicious.

PB & Choc Shake At BOY & Co

Every pimped up milkshake at Malvern’s BOY & Co looks like it came straight out of a child’s sugar-filled fantasy, but what you really want is their PB & Choc shake. Fittingly dubbed the Romeo & Juliet of shakes, this combo of peanut butter blended with homemade chocolate syrup also happens to be gluten-free! So, technically it’s healthy...right?

House Peanut Butter Butter At IDES

At the end of the day, nothing can really one (or several) spoonfuls of PB while watching trashy reality television. If you’re going to do it, at least pretend you’re an adult by choosing IDES’ house peanut butter butter. It needs nothing else except silverware. Or some toast if you’re feeling particularly fancy.
