As part of the ‘MSO at the Movies’ event this year, you can pony up your hard-earned dollaroos to hear the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra belt out the soundtrack to both Harry Potter & The Philosopher’s Stone and Harry Potter & The Chamber Of Secrets while the movies play on the big screen in front of you. Because this is the future, and what a goddam rip-snorting time to be alive.
With a whopping 654 days to go until Fantastic Beasts & Where To Find Them 2 hits our screens, and no cash-dolla to fly to London and see the Broadway play again (that’s right, I’ve seen it), I’ll be frank; for most HP fans, this news is music to our bloody ears (pardon the pun).
On the evening of November 16, the MSO will drop massive bangas, including ‘Hedwig’s Theme’, ‘Letters From Hogwarts’, ‘Fluffy’s Harp’ and ‘The Chess Game’ at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. Two days later, you can treat your ears to the likes of ‘Fawkes the Phoenix’, ‘The Flying Car’, ‘Introducing Colin’ and ‘Cornish Pixies’, and for three sweet hours, you can forget about how you now won’t be able to make rent that month.
Ticket prices will indeed set you back the equivalent of a fortnight worth of groceries, but that’s the price you pay for a world-class orchestra performing the soundtrack to your favourite movie. Literally.
For more information, or to book your tickets, head to the official MSO website.
