Yogis of Melbourne, get excited—Humming Puppy, a luxurious new yoga studio, has just opened in Prahran!

Co-founded by yoga experts Jackie Alexander and Chris Koch, Humming Puppy is not your average Melbourne yoga studio—the sleek, modern space features a frequency of 40hz, ‘injected’ into the studio by audio engineers ARUP, which is designed to help you relax, tune out the rest of the world, and get the most out of your yoga session.

It might sound strange, but it all comes down to good ol’ science you see. Studies have shown that when you surround yourself with a certain type of frequency, your body produces a matching frequency, which quite literally helps you to focus better and tune in.

So why 40hz? Well, this frequency is associated with Gamma brain wave activity (again, SCIENCE), something that academics, sports pros and top musicians all have in common. The space was designed by internationally acclaimed design studio ARUP, who commissioned local sound genius OneTwoStudios to create the soundscapes. Heck, if a yoga class can help us perform at that type of level, then sign us up!

As for the actual yoga classes, there are four on offer—Mellow Hum, Unified Hum, Dynamic Hum and Deepen Your Hum—with each drawing on the previous experiences and yoga education of the teachers. Like we said, Humming Puppy do things a little differently…and we love it!

Tucked away at the end of Cecil Place in Prahran, the ultra zen Humming Puppy yoga studio is now open, providing a relaxing oasis and some of Melbourne’s best yoga classes away from the craziness of Chapel Street.
