New York’s Hottest Speakeasy Comes To Melbourne

Cocktail lovers, there’s an American visitor hitting our shores next month, bringing with them some of the best cocktails in New York! That’s right, Please Don’t Tell (known by all the cool kids as PDT), the secret East Village speakeasy that’s turned out countless top-rate bartenders and won awards the world over is popping up in Fitzroy’s The Black Pearl for one weekend only this August.

Taking over the Attic, the Black Pearl’s upper floor, as part of Diageo's World Class cocktail initiative, the duo behind PDT, Jim Meehan and Jeff Bell will be mixing up some of the classics that put this venue (which is hidden behind a phone booth in eastside hotdog joint Crif Dogs) on the world cocktail map, including the delicious Bulleit Bourbon Sweet Tea Smash.

You’ll be able to get a taste of the venue’s oh-so-good hotdogs too, thanks to Chris Terlikar, one of Bluebonnet Barbecue’s expert chefs. Working together with PDT, he’ll be reinventing the all-American hotdog with an Aussie twist. The Spicy Redneck—a combo of a bacon-wrapped dog with chilli, coleslaw and jalapenos—has already been announced, while another mystery dog is still in development. (Guys, if you need a taste-tester, you know where to find me.)

Running from Thursday 6th until Sunday 9th August, PDT at The Black Pearl is a ticket-only affair, so make sure to book your free ticket here before the stateside team touch down in Fitzroy.
