Quality, originality and attitude. When we read that these characteristics formed the cornerstone of Melbourne’s newest luxury fashion boutique, Slow Waves, we couldn’t wait to welcome it onto our streets and into our wardrobes. And tomorrow’s our lucky day!
Founded by Marli Atterton, Slow Waves brings together cutting-edge labels from around the world – some that you will know well, others that you might not – alongside up-and-coming Melbourne fashion label Verner, with whom the store shares a space.
Inside Slow Waves, you will find a highly curated selection of pieces from all corners of the globe. If statement accessories are your thing, make a beeline for Japanese fashion brand Ambush; if luxurious basics with a touch of sports-luxe are more your vibe, check out Swedish label Ann-Sofie Back. And if, like us, you love a bit of oddly cut-and-draped ‘Melbourne black’, MM6 by Maison Martin Margiela has you covered.
The Slow Waves space itself, which is on the first level of Lonsdale Street’s Mitchell House, is a testament to Melbourne’s vibrant design scene. Masterminded by multi-disciplinary studio (a fancy way of saying that they love doing a ton of different things) Sibling, the interior is sparse and industrial, making the most of the light within the art deco landmark.
If you’re in need of a quick fashion fix before the weekend, don your designer get-up and get down to Slow Waves’ official opening party, which is happening tomorrow tonight. See you there!
