Melbourne foodies, gather ‘round—the summer food event of 2017 is returning for another huge, mouth-watering season!

The Australian Open has teamed up with Melbourne’s favourite foodgasmic restaurants including Jimmy Grants, Tokyo Tina and Hotel Jesus to bring you one of the best dining precincts in Melbourne—the AO Festival. The best part? It’s 100% FREE to attend—because the Aus Open team know that you’ve definitely blown your budget over Christmas.

Even the most unenthusiastic tennis-goer will be conned in the action-packed ‘get fan ready’ area, complete with free gifts and giveaways. Hang around the AO Festival’s lower terrace before heading upstairs for some of the best views over the Aus Open and chow down on a street food extravaganza.

Feast through fresh modern Japanese dishes including Salmon Poké and Tofu Rice paper rolls from Tokyo Tina. Pork belly baos and fresh coconuts are perfect for lounging on the lawn while watching your favourite tennis stars live on the giant screens.

Located at the luscious, sun-filled Birrarung Marr, patties will be flipping and flying out the door at Huxtaburger. From the classic Huxtaburger burger with a tender beef patty, cheese, mustard, mayo, tomatoes, lettuce, pickles and sauce, to the Vege Denise with a to die-for spicy bean & quinoa patty paired with sriracha mayo. You’d better grab these babies with two hands.

The taco-tastic selection from Hotel Jesus includes a green chorizo taco and nachos with chicken or chorizo. Paired with chilli fries stacked high and seafood tostadas, it’s the treat-yourself menu you definitely need this summer.

For dessert, Jimmy Grants is serving up puffy Jim Jams and Risogalo’s, although Jimmy fanatics will be pleased to hear their favourite chips and feta fries, dim sims and souvas will also be making an appearance at the Australian Open Festival.

The lower and upper terrace at Birrarung Marr will be open all tennis season, so bring your foodie and tennis-obsessed crews—this is one food-filled carnival event everyone can get into. The AO Live Music Stage, normally accessed via a ground pass, will also be offering free live entertainment on 14-15 January, including Missy Higgins, Tkay Maidza and Archie Roach, kicking off the AO and AO Festival with massive music hits.

The AO Festival will run from 16-29 January 2017 at Birrarung Marr. For more information head to the website
