Artist Junko Azukawa will be showcasing her calligraphy skills, shamisen performer Noriko Tadano will be providing the traditional tunes and Teppankai will be dishing out delicious traditional Japanese eats. Culture vultures, this one's for you! This Friday, Melbourne Ballet Company will perform Motion Transcend at the Hawthorn Arts Centre. Led by Artistic Director Alisa Finney and Resident Choreographer Simon Hoy, Motion Transcend is classical dance reinterpreted, meaning it's perfect for new and loyal ballet audiences alike. Have a mini ballerina on your hands? The Melbourne Ballet Company also offers dance workshops before shows.

Looking for foodie things to do in Melbourne this weekend? Well then, my well-fed friend, head to the Smoke and Fire Dinner at Café Vue at Heide! Using the traditional Maori method of cooking, hangi, chefs heat stones in a large fire pit, placing food baskets filled with whole snapper, John Dory, mussels, chicken and pork shoulder in, cover everything with earth to cook for several hours. The tasty, tasty result? Smoky meat and a lesson in Maori culinary tradition to boot. We can't wait to (literally) dig in!
Sartorial stylers, get excited – Melbourne Spring Fashion Week kicks off tonight! The Opening Night Shop-Hop will see shopping centres stay open 'til 10, and a number of 'Hop Stops' pop up around the city, complete with DJs, local artist exhibitions, stylists and roaming entertainers.
Running until the 7th of September, MSFW's nine-day program features a variety of runways, exhibitions, workshops, parties, fashion films and activations. It also provides the perfect excuse for us to flex our credit cards (ha! like we needed one!).

VCA students will transform The Windsor Hotel into a public gallery, Marvel, with each one vying for The Windsor Art Award $10,000 scholarship. The young artists will exhibit their conceptual and material interpretations of the theme 'marvel' in difference spaces throughout the hotel, including the heritage listed lace iron lifts, renowned tea room and even a once-secret hotel entrance. The result? Let's just say it's pretty marvellous! The Windsor Art Award will be judged by a prestigious panel of arty folk, including Heide Museum of Modern Art Director Jason Smith and artist Julia DeVille.

Round She Goes Fashion Market is celebrating the launch of their online market with a week-long pop-up event in the centre of Melbourne town. Running as part of Melbourne Spring Fashion Week, the Round She Goes Pop-Up will showcase different online sellers, featuring the very best of women's vintage, handmade and pre-loved designer clothing. Not only can you pick up some sweet threads, you can also get your nails did at a DIY nail art workshop by Trophy Wife Nail Art, learn the insider tips 'n' tricks from Melbourne blogging queen Cheryl Lin of Fashion Chic, or get a lil' gluey at an Unleash Creative craft workshop. Make sure you also bring along any unwanted clothing to the pop-up to donate to the Red Cross (donations will snag a prize!). See you there, marketeers!
