The weather is warming up and the sun is (finally) back in action so there has never been a better time to grab a boozy milkshake! From spiked salted caramel shakes to definitely not kid-appropriate Kinder Surprise milkshakes, combining booze, milk and sugar was never going to end well, was it?
The Grand Trailer Park Taverna
CBD
Combining boozy milkshakes with towering burgers stuffed with mac and cheese croquettes might not be our most adult idea, but if The Grand Trailer Park Taverna gives us two thumbs up, we’re going for it. The hard choice is choosing between their boozy Salted Caramel, Kinder Surprise, Jam Doughnut or Reece's shakes. Peanut butter, chocolate syrup and rum or Nutella, Frangelico, Baileys and Kinder Surprise?!
Brother Burger
Fitzroy, South Yarra
Brother Burger’s Shake-A-Holics come with a double shot of alcohol because they know who they’re dealing with. There is an Agavero tequila liqueur and strawberry shake, or a vaguely Harry Potter-inspired 666 Butter Vodka with house-made butterscotch, but we’ll be gunning for the house-made marshmallow vodka and chocolate.
The Great Britain Hotel
Richmond
Boozy milkshakes can come alcohol-free at The Great Britain Hotel, but we think that’s an awful hangover-free waste. Choose between spiked options like banana & choc with milk, banana syrup, ice cream, Frangelico, whipped cream and chocolate shavings, or salted caramel & pretzels with milk, caramel sauce, salt, ice cream, pretzels and bourbon or tequila.
Truck Stop Deluxe
Werribee
Cocktails, spiked spiders, and boozy milkshakes run rampant at this pit stop in Werribee. The Espresso Milkshake is like Espresso Martini’s hot, hyper cousin with vodka, Kahlua, Frangelico, and coffee. Otherwise, opt in favour of your favourite childhood chocolate bar and order the Crunchie with Wild Turkey bourbon, butterscotch, caramel, and chocolate.
Longhorn Saloon
Carlton
American BBQ and alcohol is like potatoes and gravy, mac and cheese, fries and ketchup. It’s the non-negotiable ideal if you’re planning on downing a slow ‘n low feast at Longhorn Saloon. Cheekily named shakes include The King with Rye whiskey, chocolate, banana and peanut butter, or Secret Squirrel with Frangelico, chocolate, and Nutella.
The Beaufort and Ikes Rack Shack
Carlton
Sticky ribs and spiked shakes make the ultimate cheat meal. While there isn’t technically a dedicated boozy milkshake section at Ikes Rack Shack, the Banana Milk Punch with bananas, almond, buttermilk, tropical rums and a squeeze of citrus is as good as a boozy milkshake gets.
Pixel Alley
Fitzroy
Playing vintages games with a little extra confidence is never a bad idea. At Pixel Alley, they’ll happily serve you classic arcade games like Donkey Kong and Street Fighter with a side of geekily-named drinks like the Barrel Roll with Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum, salted caramel, vanilla cream and sea salt pretzels.
