It’s here, Listers. Zero more sleeps to go before the much-anticipated Winter Night Market at Queen Vic opens with a big bang (and an even bigger crowd judging by last year’s attendance record)!
Every Wednesday night at the strike of five, Melbourne’s favourite outdoor market will transform into a mecca of performances, entertainment and street food. Extending across 13 weeks this winter with over 30 street vendors bringing you tastes from every corner of the globe, there’s technically no need to scoff down food this year. But no judgement if you choose to do so anyway.
Hump day will be a struggle no longer, nay, it'll be the highlight of your week with foodie heavyweights 400 Gradi, Little Mushroom Co and the Cheese & Wine Bar graciously serving up oh-so-easy-to-chomp street bites every Wednesday night at Queen Victoria Market. There’s a plethora of chargrilled meats from the Texan Bluebonnet Barbecue crew, and you can spice up your tummy with AutoRickshaw’s Indian cuisine.
Banish chills regardless of Melbourne’s sub-zero winter nights, with our friends from Little Creatures and Those Girls Iced Tea serving up a range of warm alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. You might almost be glad for the artic temperatures with soul-warming food and drinks like this available.
After you’ve eaten your full and need to walk it off—or if you’re just taking a temporary feasting break—explore some of Melbourne’s best crafts and gifts. There’s plenty to see and buy, with fragrances from Green Candle Co, Anastasia Collection’s custom-designed wooden jewellery, and imported Japanese textiles from Itai Kinomo.
On the other hand, if you’re too full to move, take a seat at the Market Cinema, where a selection of short films will be screening every night (also you can like, sit down and not move).
So cross off your Wednesday nights until the 26th of August this year Listers. You’re going to be busy now the Winter Night Market’s returned!
