Attention all foodies, our favourite time of year is almost upon us—Eat Drink Perth! Kicking off on 16 March and running for five glorious weeks until 23 April, Eat Drink Perth is a food festival unlike any other.
There’s plenty to see, do, taste, sip and learn—the hardest part will be choosing between the amazing list of foodie events on offer! To help you Eat Drink Perth like a pro, we’ve put together an epic list of must-do events for the glutton, chef stalker, sweet tooth, pro pairer, pre drinker and anti-closet eater in all of us.

Nope, that’s not a spelling mistake, it’s a foodie event not to be missed! Take your taste buds on a tour of Asia at DegustAsian where you’ll be treated to eight whopping courses of yummy street food. If you’re wanting to get your drink on you can opt to have your meals matched with Wok St Chow House’s signature cocktails.
LOCAL YOKEL DINNER
Celebrating WA’s local produce, sustainable farming and the bounty of goodies that nature provides, the Local Yokel Dinner is a foodie event not to be missed. Bellies will be filled and tastebuds left more than satisfied over four delicious courses—including one sweet course. Sip on WA craft beer, local wines and cocktails created with local spirits and ingredients. You can opt to attend the whole shebang or just rock up for dessert and pay $16.

MAN VS MEATBALL
If you eat faster than Usain Bolt runs in the 100m sprint, Lalla Rookh’s Man Vs Meatball challenge is for you. Get the most number of chef Joel Valvasori’s meatballs down your gulper and the trophy is yours for the taking. You’ll also win a voucher to this Italian bar and restaurant. Who cares about indigestion when free food is at stake?

The Chef Stalker
THE CHEF, THE BARTENDER AND THE ART OF CHEESE AND SHERRY
A night filled with hard-to-say words like manzanilla, amontillado and pedro ximenez, MasterChef finalist Jessica Arnott and The Flour Factory barman Simon Hough will demonstrate how to pair cheese and sherry like a pro. Hopefully they’ll also clear up a few things in the way of pronunciation!

CHEF COLLABORATION: A TASTE OF COMO THE TREASURY
Consider yourself a bit of a Perth chef groupie? You’re not going to want to miss this one! Let COMO The Treasury’s executive chef Jed Gerrard, as well as Post’s head chef Kim Brennan and pastry chef Rika Shiina whip you up a delectable three-course meal matched with wine, in what is quite possibly the foodie event of the year!

Having worked his way through some very acclaimed restaurants in New Zealand and Melbourne, Petition Kitchen head chef Jesse Blake is one of our favourite Perth culinary wizards. At this awesome Eat Drink Perth event you’ll get to feast on quirky, rustic share plates perfectly paired with matching wines. The Sweet Tooth
LATE NIGHT DESSERT DEGUSTATION
If you don’t like anything getting between you and your dessert, even lights, the Late Night Dessert Degustation is the Eat Drink Perth event for you. Enjoy a dessert degustation like no other in the candle-lit basement of the State Buildings, featuring the goods from Sue Lewis Chocolatier, Sugarplum Sweets and Honeycake. There will be bubbles on arrival, cupcake decorating, a chocolate tempering demo and you’ll even get to take home a recipe for honeycake. An intimate event, get in quick before you miss out.

BACON & WHISKEY MASTERCLASS
Make like Ron Swanson and head to Varnish on King for their Bacon & Whiskey Masterclass. Get schooled on the history of American whiskey while you sample five different whiskey and bacon pairings. It’s your nightcap and breakfast all rolled into one!

BEEF & BEER MASTERCLASS
Beef and beer were destined to be a match made in heaven, they’re almost the same word even. Celebrate all that is frothy and enriched with iron at The Old Brewery’s Beef & Beer Masterclass. After a tour of the brewery you’ll learn how to choose, season and cook beef, including hot tips around whether to turn or not to turn (no more tough steak!), before getting to sample the goods and chug down free-flowing beer.

SENSOLOGY ART OF COCKTAIL MAKING

FOOD TRUCK RUMBLE
The Food Truck Rumble, one of our favourite foodie events, returns in its third year with more tasty goodness than ever. There will be 40 food trucks and 10 street food stalls, as well as the biggest break-dancing competition in Perth held at the James Street Amphitheatre. Bring plenty of cash and don’t forget to sample everything!

SCITECH AFTER DARK
Ever wondered how astronauts drink beer in space? You’ll find out this and a whole lot more at the adults only Scitech After Dark Eat Drink Perth event. Bring your pocket money and buy some space ice cream and space beer (brewed to be consumed in micro-gravity), and learn all about eating and drinking in space. There will also be a liquid nitrogen ice cream cooking demo and you’ll get to sample the goods!
