Moisturisers, Massages And Making Time To Move With The COMO Shambhala Urban Escape, Perth Beauty

Over the past few years, Perth’s health and wellness scene has taken off and we are loving it! From the juice cleanse companies to the healthy cafes, from the wellness warriors to the hip yoga studios sprouting up all over town, Perth has got it going on.

To celebrate all of Perth’s health magic, we’ve created a cool little health and wellness series which will allow you to gain insight into the lives of some of Perth’s healthiest cool cats. They’ll share their tips and tricks, along with a whole lot of inspiration to help you live the best life ever. Yesss!

This week, we met with Ailise Sinclair, the spa manager and beauty pro at the COMO Shambhala Urban Escape. We took five with Ailise to talk about her top beauty and health tips, why she eats collagen and where she likes to go for breakfast.

What's your beauty routine?

I cleanse my face at night with Sodashi Balance Concentrate and moisturise with something heavy and rich like Nourishing Repair Treatment by Sodashi or Linden Calendula Treatment by Eminence. The best day cream is the Tone Day Cream by Dr Hauschka. I also love dry body brushing and putting on sweet almond oil after a shower and getting a massage once a week.

What are your best health tips?

Fresh air, laughing, a clean diet and having a creative outlet that nourishes your soul.

What can people do to have the best skin ever?

Eliminate and cleanse—this means having a good exfoliation ritual that works for your skin type as well as a moisturiser that suits your skin. The other main thing is breath and digestion—so movement that is fun and gets you breathing. Eat collagen and high antioxidant foods—my favorites are chia seeds and yoghurt and agar-agar apricot jelly and almond milk pudding. Also drink warm herbal teas throughout the day to rehydrate and tone your skin from the inside out. I like Chinese herbal teas that have dong quoi, ginseng and juniper berry—they’re great for balancing women's hormones and energising.

What would your last meal on earth be?

I would probably skip the meal and go for a massage!

Do you have a killer beauty tip for us?

A honey and cayenne pepper home facial for when your skin is dry and lackluster and needs circulation! Coconut oil for your hair and skin. For an airbrushed make-up finish, invest in great brushes and mix your own make-up to match your skin by using two different shades—go for green and yellow base shades in make up as opposed to red or pink as it will knock out any redness in your complexion. Wear red/yellow and orange when you want to amp up your energy, white when you want to connect to your soul and black when you want to focus and chisel your energy forwards.

Fave local Perth spots…

For a drink

Petition Wine Bar & Merchant, located in the State Buildings. It is a nice place to catch up for a casual drink after work. I also like Helvetica and Varnish for cocktails.

For breakfast

Flora and Fauna and Post at COMO The Treasury

For a coffee

The newly opened Saint Larry Cafe in the City of Perth Library. The coffee is hard to beat!

For Dinner

I've been living overseas for a few years but I amazed at how many new restaurants there are here in Perth. Long Chim is obviously one to try and I quite like going into Northbridge to experience all the Asian restaurants, pho is one of my favourites.

For a healthy treat

Does chocolate count as healthy?! I think it does. So try Sue Lewis Chocolatier, located in the basement of the State Buildings, for a delicious chocolate truffle treat.

For shopping

I like Fox Maiden—online from Melbourne for great jackets and boots, and WEARE for yoga apparel and casual wear. My favorite designers are based in Bali—Magali Pascali, Milk and Roses—and I also like Coco & Lola, a local Perth brand.
