So the new year is upon us and it's time to start making those 2016 goals that you’ll probably forget about in a few weeks' time (lets be honest). But don’t let that stop you from going out and enjoying all the delicious food and drink our fair city has to offer.
Why not celebrate this weekend with some foodie markets, arty-farty things, a movie, music and a little bit of sporty goodness. Here’s what’s on this weekend in Perth.

OLD MATES, NEW PHONES | FREMANTLE
Since the introduction of smartphone technology, binge drinking, violence and drug use within male adolescents has been well documented. Emerging Perth artist, Shannon McCulloch, has created an exhibition of new work which incorporates imagery, drawings and oil paintings that comment on this pressing issue. McCulloch’s work deals with the myths of masculinity and mateship and is a demonstration of the social context within today’s society.

HOPMAN CUP | PERTH
The tennis lords will be joining us in P-town again this year for some much needed sporting entertainment. This will be your perfect opportunity to have a hit of tennis and pretend you’re a pro, perve on the hot boys or girls—playing or in the crowds—and attempt to take a Hollywood-style selfie with your fave star while you’re face is melting off and you’re sweating bullets. Sounds fun right?

LUNA OUTDOOR | LEEDERVILLE
Forget Katniss and The Hunger Games, our main gal pal and proper BFF Jen Lawrence also stars in a new movie called Joy. Now we don’t want to spoil the storyline but we can guarantee that this flick is a must see. It’s got a little betrayal, loss and scarring, but also innocence, love and loyalty. P.S. Try not to make this a first date film—unless you’re ok with crying in front of him/her.
Where: Luna Outdoor Cinema, Leederville
When: 8.15pm, 9 January
Tickets: $20, book here
