Thank goodness for the shooting star, three-legged toad, or paunchy little leprechaun that has been spreading good luck around Perth, because we literally cannot keep up with all the fortune 2018 has been bringing. You’ve probably heard rumours about the Mary Street team cooking up a shiny new space in the west-end, and now we’re officially delivering the good word!
They’ve already swept Perthlings off their feet with eminent projects like Mary Street Bakery, Greenhouse, Cantina 663, el PUBLICO, Ace Pizza, and now the brilliant trio—Michael Forde, Paul Aron, and Brett Robinson—are all set to open the doors of their brand-new venture, Tiny’s, on Monday 30 April.
Nestled in the newly renovated QV1 plaza, Tiny’s has taken over the former Bar One site, and with interiors that weave in inspiration from its predecessor, you can expect a fair bit of nostalgia when you walk in. Keeping in tune with their panache for creating contemporary designs, the boys have waved their magic wand for Tiny’s as well. Complete with an indoor and alfresco bar, restaurant and liquor emporium, the place is a harmony of modern and rustic, with its brass features, wooden panels, and bespoke lighting.
When it comes to grub, Tiny’s comes armed with an all-star team. Chef Jacob D’Vauz, whose impressive street cred includes Rockpool Bar and Grill and a stint as a touring chef for Sir Paul McCartney, is all set to take the reins at the Tiny’s kitchen, and we couldn’t be more excited! With a custom wood-fire grill and rotisserie, expect signature dishes including whole roast chicken, sticky blood plum glazed beef intercostal sticks and roasted prawns with bottarga butter and burnt chilli. With vegetables and herbs foraged from their own rooftop garden, we’re confident that the delicious flavours will knock you off ya feet!
The bar is equipped to be the perfect spot for your Friday night load-off with eight beers on tap, ciders, Tiny-tastic cocktails, and an extensive wine list. As a bonus, they’re all set to open their own liquor emporium later this year, under the guidance of acclaimed sommelier Rachael Niall. Aside from housing over 300 internationally and locally sourced fine wines, the emporium will also host tastings, master classes, and intimate dinners, so if you’re a self-proclaimed wine connoisseur, you better bookmark this one for your bucket list.
Tiny’s is leaving no stone unturned to become the CBD’s best new social hub, especially when it comes to in-house entertainment. If you head there with your squad during the week, you can enjoy solo acoustic acts, and shake a leg to DJs playing laid-back funk, hip-hop, and nostalgic classics. Friday and Saturday nights will feature live bands as well, making it a strong contender for Perth’s weekend haul.
We’re already thinking of excuses to skip work and head over to gorge on some juicy rotisserie chicken, and don’t you dare be fooled by the name, because these guys are set to bring about the biggest thunder to the QV1 precinct!
