6 Super Fun Things To Do On The Coast This Week

By Claire Plush - 24 Oct 2016

We said October was gonna be all about health and wellness here on the Sunny Coast, and the last week of the month is no different!

The Noosa Tri, a healthy cooking class, a special yoga event, it’s all happening on the Coast this week. Oh, and because busting a move on the d-floor is considered fitness, we’ve even included the best pre-Halloween party, and you’re invited.

Mondayitis, you’ve got no business hangin’ around here!

Ayurvedic Cooking Workshop | Tuesday, October 25

In case we didn’t already look at CK Wholefoods and just think “health”, they’re hosting an Ayurvedic cooking class this Tuesday night. Over two and a half hours, you’ll learns the ins and outs of digestion, the role of detoxing, the importance of being mindful, as well as taking home a quiver of healthy Ayurvedic recipes to test out on your mates. It’ll set you back $65, but you’ll gain a whole lot of knowledge that’s priceless.

Yoga Loves Live Music | Tuesday, October 25 and Wednesday, October 26

Much like wine and cheese, yoga and music just go together. They just do. Hanging in our special neck of the woods for a short time only, yoga instructor Kimberly Erin and singer-songwriter Tom Richardson are coming together to create a zen-ful experience like no other. Held on two separate evenings, at Fresh Holistic Health in Forest Glen and Imperial Hotel in Eumundi, if you’re set on trying something new, give this intimate event a go.

Night At The Races | Friday, October 28

For the lucky ones who managed to snag tickets to the annual Night at the Races and help raise funds for the Dicky Beach SLSC, good on you! For those who didn’t, you’ll be missing out on a night full of schmoozing at the champagne garden, devouring a buffet dinner, and winning the admiration of the crowd when claiming the “best dressed” award. Too bad!

Beaker & Bentley Launch | Saturday, October 29

If you’re a fan of handcrafted surfboards, skateboards, paddleboard, knee boards, wake surfers—just pretty much any board you can possibly think of—then you probably shouldn’t miss the launch of Beaker & Bentley at Guru Life this Saturday from 4pm. There’ll be a pop up shop, giveaways, a chance to chat to the resin artists behind the board, Ross Wilson and Ben McKay, and plenty of good times going around.

Halloween at The Basement | Saturday, October 29

The guys behind Your Mates, and the newly opened Nambour bar, The Basement are hosting one epic Halloween shindig and y’all invited. They’ll be pouring their lip-smacking brews (of course) and some tasty Halloween cocktails, to help you get down and freaky to live DJ sets. It’s gonna be a ghoul night. *wink

Noosa Tri | Sunday, 30 October

Okay, we’re not saying you should actually compete in the Noosa Tri (unless you’re really, REALLY fit), but it totally counts as a workout if you stand on the sidelines and cheer, right? The events roll out all weekend but Sunday is the peak of it all. Be smart, and park somewhere in the junction before strolling down to Hastings Street to get in on the action. Just think, if you were running and saw smiley faces egging you on, you’d feel pretty chuffed, so do it for the sporty peeps!
