The Best Bars On The Sunshine Coast To Hit Up For A Spring Soirée

By Sophie Hart
4th Oct 2019

If you’re anything like us, you’ve been daydreaming of sipping piña coladas ever since spring arrived on the Sunshine Coast. So to help you quench your thirst, we’ve rounded up all the best bars you need to hit for your next spring soirée.

To ensure you make your way seamlessly to the bar (and save some serious coin), we've teamed up with DiDi, the Sunshine Coast’s newest ridesharing service. Not only can you get your hands on epic deals like 50 per cent off your first three rides, but you can also score a free ride to the value of $15 across two glorious DIDIDAYS: Saturday 5 and 12 October. But wait, there's more! If you’re new to DiDi in Queensland, download the app and enter the code URBANLIST to get yourself an additional $20 in ride vouchers. So, save that cash for the bar and consider your weekend sorted.

Bistro C

Though Bistro C is more restaurant than bar, we couldn’t leave this iconic seaside venue off our list. Overlooking Noosa’s Laguna Bay and just steps from the boardwalk, book a table here and you’re practically dining on the beach. From Coffin Bay oysters and roasted duck leg to truffled potato gnocchi, there’s no question Bistro C boasts a fierce loyalty to the Sunshine Coast with their award-winning menu showcasing only the best local produce. The best part? They have five different types of espresso martinis including Jaffa, chai, choc mint, tiramisu, and a crowd-favourite classic. We say try them all.

Pier 33

Set to the stunning backdrop of the Mooloolaba Marina, Pier 33 is a surefire way to nail the perfect Saturday. Choose between dining à la carte in the main restaurant (we recommend the fried chicken bao and garlic butter prawns) or sitting al fresco on the whitewashed picnic tables and munching on small share plates like the soft shell crab rolls. As for the drinks list? It’s been carefully crafted to complement the waterfront location with refreshing and summery flavours. Give their Velvet Sky cocktail a try, featuring a zesty blend of Absolut Vodka, Chamberyzette, citrus, whites, vanilla and strawberry.

M.V. Catalina

Step aboard this floating bar for hands down one of the best experiences on the Sunshine Coast. Bliss out as you cruise down the Noosa River sipping signature cocktails, tossing back fresh oysters and tucking into drool-worthy finger food on the M.V. Catalina. Nailing coastal chic, the yacht is awash in crisp white with timber accents, while rattan baskets and lush palms fill every corner, and nautical striped sun lounges await for when you lose your sea legs. Just be sure to fire up the ‘Gram to capture the glittering river as the sun falls behind the Noosa hinterland. Pure magic.

Chilled Locales

The Rooftop Bar

One of the biggest openings of 2019 so far, the adequately named The Rooftop Bar is serving up epic cocktails and unbeatable views. It’s the latest project from the team behind Ocean Street’s much-loved venues The Piano Bar and Solbar, so you know you’re in good hands. The menu is packed with classics like piña coladas and cosmopolitans, spritzers, eight different martinis and a signature list, which is where we recommend you start. Design-wise, this seven-storey high lavish bar comes complete with a retractable rooftop, polished concrete wrap-around bar, cascading greenery hanging overhead, and an Astro-turfed balcony. As the Sunshine Coast’s first-ever sky-high oasis, we recommend booking a table right away.

Land & Sea

For a laid-back weekend, settle in at Land & Sea Brewery with a glass of liquid gold. Hand-crafted right here on the Sunshine Coast, the crew at Land & Sea follow a scientific approach to brewing. The results? Let’s just say you’ll be ordering round two after just one sip. The brewery itself lends to a simple Brooklyn-style loft with grey concrete, sky-high ceilings, timber tables and stools, and lush greenery hanging overhead. All in all, it’s the perfect spot for a relaxed arvo with your mates.

313 Social

On the hunt for a good Sunday sesh spot? Head to this Mooloolaba back-alley bar and beer garden in for guaranteed good vibes. Stroll down the colourful laneway and arm yourself with a local brew before pulling up a chair and relaxing in the beer garden. If you’re feeling peckish, you’ll be stoked to see old-school favourites like a classic ham and cheese toastie and homemade meat pies on the menu. Did we mention 313 Social has its own skate ramp? You know what to do.

Boujiee Bars

Miss Moneypenny’s

An iconic venue on Noosa’s Hastings Street, Miss Moneypenny’s delivers fun and familiar dishes washed down with next-level tipples. With champagne cocktails, share cocktails and carafes, as well as a fun lineup of 80s cruise ship drinks, like piña coladas and Singapore Slings (made with the original Raffles Hotel recipe), you honestly can’t go wrong. As for the food, it’s Mediterranean and Middle Eastern-inspired Modern Australian dining. Think crispy jaffles, pork loin sardines served in a retro tin (fire up the Instagram Stories for this one), and BBQ split Mooloolaba King Prawns. It’s no surprise this slick locale has won a swag of awards and recently opened a second venue of the same name in Broadbeach—but lucky for us, we’ve got the OG watering hole right here in our own backyard.

Frank + Lotti

Dimly lit, intimate and all things cosy, this Mooloolaba venue is perfect for your next date night. But what we love most is that Frank + Lotti heroes a massive selection of 100 different wines from around the world. Let the knowledgeable staff guide you through the list to find the perfect drop and drool-worthy food pairings. And since their low-fi jazz nights are already a massive hit with locals and visitors alike, we highly recommend booking on a Friday or Saturday to experience it for yourself.

Kiki Bar & Eatery

If you’re anything like us, your love for cocktails runs deep and luckily the team at Kiki Bar & Eatery are here to satisfy your thirst. Found on Duporth Ave in Maroochydore, Kiki Bar heroes the best Australian spirits, beers and wine around, and the fact they have kombucha on tap means you absolutely must order their Slow Gin Smash with mint, berries and kombucha. If you’re up for something really fancy, the Champagne Colada mixes Moet & Chandon, coconut sorbet, plantation rum and pineapple and the result is outstanding.

Ready to tackle your cocktail hit list? Let DiDi get you there for less so you can spend your hard-earned coin on cocktails instead. Download the app and you’ll get 50 per cent off your first three trips (winning). What’s even better, it’s DIDIDAY on Saturday 5 and 12 October, which means you’ll get a free ride to the value of $15, so you can start living your best life this spring.
