We’ve Found The Cosiest Cafes On The Sunshine Coast

By Sophie Wright - 29 May 2017

Winter is fast approaching, and with the sun taking more and more sweet time to rise each morning, it’s pretty damn hard to get out of bed.

But even though the struggle is real, we’ve decided it’s high time for us to make winter suck just a little less. It’s a tough gig, but somebody’s gotta do it!

So without further ado, we've found nine of the cosiest cafes on the Sunshine Coast to keep warm. While they’ll never be as snug as your bed, they’re the next best thing, we promise!

Rosetta Books

Nothing says cosy like curling up with a cuppa and a good book, and at Rosetta Books, you can do just that! Lose yourself in the charming bookstore, pick a winner and get stuck straight into it over a few velvety coffees. As heavenly as winter gets!

Chai lovers, assemble! Homegrown are known for brewing some of the best chai lattes on the Sunshine Coast,  so you’d best be hitting up this cosy Palmwoods café, stat. With a mish-mash of second-hand furniture giving this spot a homey feel, we wouldn’t blame you if you ended up staying for lunch. In fact, with stomach-warmers like housemade soup, you’d be crazy not to.

The Pocket Espresso

Smack bang in the middle of Moffat Beach, The Pocket is a special little place that should be on your hit list if it ain’t already! Great food, cool peeps and bench seating make it a top spot to hang this winter. Hanging for a whiff of seabreeze and ocean views? The outside seating is cute too, but don’t forget your faux fur coat.

The Velo Project

Boasting one of our fave brunch menus on the Sunshine Coast, a morning at The Velo Project is well worth whipping off the doona for, especially if you can sink straight into one of their vintage couches. Topped off with great vibes and friendly staff, it’s the perfect place to order a matcha latte and keep warm this winter.

This cute-as-a-button Woombye café is so inviting you’ll never want to leave! Winnie’s cosy bench seating is ideal for huddling in with your pals and catching up on the latest goss. And what it lacks in size (we love it’s tinieness) it makes up for in big flavours and super smooth coffee from local roaster Vintage Black.

Shotgun Espresso

Shotgun Espresso is so cosy it’s insane! Hanging plants, snuggly couches and pastel cushions cements Shotgun’s place on this list, not to mention the fine foods that grace their menu. With some of the prettiest dishes we ever did see, we recommend settling in for more than just your usual morning coffee run. Oh and if the sun comes out, sneak out to the their new back courtyard for a bit of Vitamin D.

The Milk Bar Coffee Co.

Not only do these guys know their stuff when it comes to coffee, the guys at The Mlik Bar  also know how to slayyyy a winter menu! Sashay on in for a delicious hearty burger or an ooey gooey toastie. We’ll also warn you now, you will not leave without consuming at least one of their freshly baked cookies. Sah good!

Bean There Done That

Pacific Paradise/Pelican Waters

With an eclectic mixture of wooden tables, mismatched stools, funky artwork and plants galore, the team behind Bean There Done That’s two cafés have somehow managed to create everyone’s ideal home away from home. Both have comfy-as couches just waiting for you to curl up on, not to mention that the coffee and food are deeeelish. There’s also wifi for those who need to break away from the office.

Mr Darcy

Known for its delicious sweet treats, Mr Darcy is a warm and cosy little spot perfect for catch-ups with your bestie over a piping hot cuppa, or a couple of hours of quality me-time. Either way, don’t plan on a quick visit…we think you’ll stay a little while. Tip: Bring extra cash for a little shoparoo next door at Bella Rustique.
