The brainchild of passionate coffee-lovers Will and Attie, Groundskeeper Willie has morphed from a grab-and-go kart in a carpark, to a little coffee shop slash roastery in Moffat Beach’s industrial area.
Found behind a roller door in a made-over warehouse, Groundskeeper Willie pumps out some of the best coffee in Caloundra, using their super smooth, house-roasted beans.
Kitted out with bar tables, stools, timber booth seating and the token espresso bar stoops—crates—this is where you head if you want to escape the crowds and hang out with the locals.
In addition to coffee, you’ll find a cabinet filled with the likes of savoury muffins, banana bread, orange and almond cake and, our favourite, bacon and egg or brisket sliders on melt-in-your-mouth brioche buns. And they even do a sweet deal—a brekkie bun with a coffee for a tenner. Now that’s cheap.
For those who like to solidify their love of a new joint with a hands on experience, Groundskeeper Willie offer a coffee roasting workshop (from $75). You’ll help the crew roast beans and then enjoy a cupping experience where you’ll taste and evaluate what you like, and from there, create your own blend to take home. It’s like a choose-your-own-adventure story, but with coffee.
Next time you’re on the hunt for somewhere new to down your coffee, put Groundskeeper Willie on your radar. This Moffat gem is worth the drive!
