If you're anything like us, your healthy eating tangent always starts off well, with that Sunday afternoon trip to the shops in your activewear, veg-heavy grocery list in hand, and (probably false) aspirations for a healthy week ahead. Except when you get home, unpack your superfood haul and settle in for a good old-fashioned TV binge and suddenly can’t be bothered cooking. Looks like it’s a bag of chocolate-coated sultanas and a can of Pringles—not so #fitspo now, huh?
We’re not saying this is us (it 100% is), but #realtalk: we’ve stepped up our game recently and have been absolutely NAILING this healthy eating thing. Lucky for you, we’re in a bit of a sharing-is-caring-mood and are going to spill all the beans on the ultimate lazy person’s guide to clean eating!
We’ve teamed up with #foodiegoals, Youfoodz who are all about mealtime reimagined, meaning you’re all set up for a healthy, rock-hard-abs kinda life thanks to the spare 15 hours a week you’ll have sans cooking, shopping, and most importantly—doing the freakin’ dishes. Did we mention they have a new winter menu that’s all kind of delicious!?
Want to know how to be that annoyingly healthy friend, yet remain as lazy as ever? You’re in the right place.
#1 WORKOUT IN THE AD BREAKS
The hardest part about going to the gym is… going to the gym. So, we say skip it and work out in the ad breaks at home! That’s technically interval training, if we’re not really being technical. Bonus points if you’re watching a show like Survivor where you’re faced with some pretty crazy physical feats because that’s free motivation right there. Try 10 squats in the first ad break, 10 sit-ups in the next, 10 tricep dips next, and repeat. By the end of the season you’ll be a regular Ninja Warrior! The best part? You can stay do it all in your PJs.
#2 MAKE SOMEONE ELSE DO THE COOKING
You know how we feel about cooking from that intro (it’s not exactly a love affair). The new Youfoodz winter menu is not only tasty as hell, but ordering weekly frees up a whopping 15 hours of extra time you can use to live your best life (read: ‘researching’ cute dog memes). The new winter menu includes things you’d never think would make the cut on your new ~health plan~ like Chicken Katsu Curry, for one! There’s also your classic winter faves like Slow-Cooked Lamb Shanks, Sunday Roast Chicken, Beef & Broc Wok Box, and even a Choc Hazelnut Waffle! If that teaser has got you drooling, fill your fridge right here and next week you will thank this week you.
#3 THERE’S AN APP FOR THAT
How many of life’s problems can be solved by those five little words? Definitely all of them. Yep, even getting healthy while remaining lazy AF is do-able. Check out fitspo apps like Apptive (work out classes, in your ears!); My Fitness Pal (bonus points to Youfoodz who tell you their calories straight up and don’t make us try and add everything in our heads); and Couch to 5k (the ultimate lazy hack). There are so many great apps out there, so get to downloading stat! You’ve got all that free time now, remember?!
#4 PLAN AHEAD
Being organised is the key to success. Think about it: if you’re doing this whole ~healthy~ thing for the first time, on your own, day by day, it can be really, REALLY hard. So, do it the grown-up way and get organised! Plan a morning walk with your friend, set an alarm on your phone to fill up your water bottle… you get the gist. The hardest part, though, is eating right, so save yourself the heartache and inevitable fails by getting someone else (that’s you, Youfoodz!) to deliver all your meals at the start of the week (yes, even #cheatday treats).
