And we’re back! And what better way to kick off your day than with pretty much the best, and most colourful treat EVER.

We’d even go as far as saying it’s the best thing to happen this year—after all, it’s not every day epic food trends make their way to the Coast.

The techno colour craze that swept New York has here on our sunny shores. Yep, the Sunshine Coast is one of the ONLY PLACES IN AUSTRALIA where you can buy a rainbow bagel. Squeal!

And it’s all thanks to Bright Side Bagels who are hand-rolling, boiling, baking and serving these unicorn-coloured goodies at weekend markets across the Coast. Admit it, you want one now, don’t you?

The man behind the biz, Jason Janetzki ate a shitload of bagels over 12 months, before pulling together all of his bagel-eating and cheffing experience (he used to be the head chef at Three Bar & Grill at Dicky Beach), to create his very own bagel range. And so far, so great!

Obvs the rainbow bagel is the most fun-loving of the lot, especially when loaded with a slightly sweetened cream cheese mixed with 100s and 1000s. Oh my sweet tooth!

But, for those who prefer to drive within the lines on the bagel highway (booooooring!), you’ll find plenty of classic yet tasty bagel offerings at Bright Side Bagels market stall—from jalapeno and spiced pumpkin to olive and rosemary or cinnamon and raisin, we’re pretty sure you’ll find something to fill the pit. Of course there’s also your regular poppy seed, plain, and sesame seed options too, and all are available to eat right then and there, or take home.

Anyhoo, it’s detail time. If you want to jump on possibly one of the brightest, happiest food trends ever to hit the Coast, and devour one of these sure-to-be-infamous rainbow bagels, hunt down Bright Side Bagels at Hinterland Harvest Market at Woombye on Saturdays from 6am and Fishermans Road Markets in Maroochydore on Sundays.

And cos we’re those weird kind of people who actually love getting food envy, make sure you tag us (#urbanlistsc) with all your rainbow-lovin’ pics on Insta. Dessert for breakfast is one thing that needs to be documented. Capeesh?
