Guys, some foodie news has just broken and it’s pretty freakin’ tasty.
So what’s the hap? Well, Tony Kelly, the man behind Sunshien Coast faves like Hello Harry and Junk, has literally just announced that he’s going to be opening a gorgeous new Hamptons-style fish and chippery on the water in Mooloolaba!
Part of the $10million refurbishment of The Wharf, this new casual restaurant named ‘Saltwater’ is promising to dish up fish and chips for under 10 bucks per person, as well as offering freshly-shucked oysters and calamari. It’ll also be licensed, so icy cold beer and wine will be pretty much a given if you need something fresh to wash down all that seafoody goodness.
There’ll be blue and white striped shade awnings, plenty of stools to perch on, and river views that you’re going to rave about. But, and we’re about to sound like an infomercial, it doesn’t end there! Because why open one new restaurant, when you could open two?
Uh-huh. Along with Saltwater, Tony is also set to launch another Asian eats restaurant for your eating pleasure. Can we get a ‘heck yeah’?! Rice Boi, an urban Asian street food joint, will also sit in the new wharf precinct and is going to be THE spot to get dumplings, bao and mouth-watering curries, all while sitting waterside.
Good things come to those who wait, so you’ll have to sit tight until the end of November before these two gems are in action. But don’t fret, we’ll be the first to let you know as soon as doors open.
Looking for ways to churn through the days while you wait? Here's 25 awesome things to do in Mooloolaba.
