5 Cafes & Bars To Check Out This Weekend

By Claire Plush - 23 Sep 2016

Another week bites the dust and that means you’d better be strategising how to make the best use of your precious weekend.

No plans yet? We got you. ‘Cause another week also means you can tackle another swag of fab joints. Ah Sunny Coast, how did we get so lucky?

Thomas Corner Eatery

Thomas Corner is pretty much Noosa in a restaurant. Stunning views, beautiful décor, incredible food, classic yet innovative—you’ll be left wanting nothing. If you can tear your eyes away from their plant wall or the river views, then you’ll get to feast them on the menu. And oh what a menu it is! These guys do breakfast (weekends only), lunch, AND dinner, so if the thought of vanilla waffles with Eumundi strawberries, or a parmesan and sage gnocchi send your tastebuds a little cray cray, then you know what you gotta do!
Where: 1/201 Gympie Terrace, Noosaville

The Basement

Our boys at Your Mates Brewing Co. have just opened a brand spanking new bar in Nambour, and it’s pretty sweeeeet to say the very least. The Basement is the beer den you never knew was missing from your life. But it was. Cold brews and a cool crew, we reckon kicking off the weekend here would be a mighty fine thing to do.
Where: Downstairs at 35 Currie Street, Nambour (entrance off Short Street)

Chalet & Co.

Another newbie, opening its doors last weekend, Chalet & Co. is Sunrise Beach’s only, as in ONLY, café. And it’s positioned conveniently directly across the road from the beach. Yep, those sandy feet are welcome! These guys are pumping out coffees all day long, but ‘cause everyone wants a piece of what they’re offering, we suggest rocking up early for an ocean dip, followed by a morning cup of joe and an indulgent weekend brekky. Bliss!
Where: Shop 3, 1 Tingira Crescent, Sunrise Beach

Velo Project

If it’s been a while since you’ve graced one of the best cafes in Mooloolaba with your presence, you should put a stop to the distance this weekend. Sure we get kicks out of new joints popping up, but there’s something comforting about coming back to a place you know, dishes you love, and a chai latte that would never EVER disappoint. Velo Project, you will always have a place in our stomachs.
Where: 19 Careela Street, Mooloolaba

Black Bunny Kitchen

Not ready to tie a bow ‘round on the weekend? We get it! Make it last a little longer with a sneaky Sunday sesh at the beachside establishment that is Black Bunny Kitchen. Take your pick from over 100 craft beers (probs best not to try them all in one sitting), bop to some sweet live tunes, and chow down on mouthwatering eats like the southern fried chicken or the devil-ish brisket burger.
