Summer is here (wellllll, almost) and the best thing about this time of year is that it’s completely acceptable to dress like you’re on vacay every day of the week. While this is obvs great news, it’s never as easy as it sounds, so we decided to team up with the style set from Mode Sportif to bring you the ultimate lazy girl’s guide to nailing summer holiday style. Let’s just say you need to read this before you even think about wearing thongs to work/brunch/anywhere but the beach.
If you’re in New York (or want to be), it’s alllllll about pumped up kicks paired with luxe leisurewear. WTF is luxe leisurewear? Think high fashion prints and quality statement pieces that were made for one thing and one thing only: comfort. Opt for all things sheer, floral and ruffled then finish the look with a pair of your fave sneaks.
According to our Instagram feeds, Positano is the place to be. Everything about this god damn beautiful place screams chic, so take your cue from the Italians and opt for easy and flattering relaxed silhouettes, like this season’s must-have wrap everything. Don’t be afraid of colour.
If you only know one thing about fashion, it’s probs that French women are fashionable AF. What you might not know is that it starts and ends with Breton stripes. Invest in your tee of choice and wear with anything and everything to look like you know what you’re doing. If you’re going for that oh-so-French je ne sais quoi, pair your stripes with feminine florals and metallic accessories.
The epitome of laid-back cool, Greece is the kind of place you can lounge around in super soft wide leg silk pants (read: pyjamas) all day and live the island life dream. Make them your style staple in the suburbs then dress them up with lace and add cool girl edge with fresh to death sneakers.
There’s something about Bali. From the hot, hot heat to the stunning sunsets, you kiiiinda need to wear as little as possible, day and night. Keep things simple with cute, trendy mini skirts and matching wrap tops, to go from beach to bar with ease. Leave your heels at home.
When it’s time to get glam, go Malibu (that means you need to brush your hair). The relaxed yet hip area of Los Angeles is currently seeing all sorts of florals, pastels and metallic so you should dress accordingly. Less is more.
