We’re officially halfway through 2018! Whether you’re stoked or horrified at that revelation, hopefully we can all agree that the year has been a pretty good one so far…so let’s keep it that way!

Whether you’re looking for a fun way to celebrate Christmas in July or are just looking to treat yo’self with your tax return, here are 20 awesome things to do on the Sunshine Coast in July. 

Ice Skating In Noosa 

Pull on that unused bobble hat and those gloves, because Noosa Civic Shopping Centre is set to be transformed into a stunning winter wonderland complete with an epic ice rink where you can live out all your ice skating dreams. #tripleaxel And the best part is you can have all this fun while doing good. All the proceeds from the rink go directly towards the fabulous Make-a-Wish Foundation. What could possibly be better than that? Did we mention there will also be penguin sliders for the little ones too? How adorable is that!

LOLbar @ Solbar 

After the roaring success of their first show, LOLbar will be back on the first Tuesday in July! Enjoy some side-splitting stand-up lols from Michael Connell, Carolyn Mandersloot and Matt Ford at Solbar – what a great way to kick off the month!

Mary Valley Art Festival  

Held in Imbil, this annual event showcases artwork from a heap of talented SEQ artists. Come by to admire their creativity, or splurge on a piece of art of your very own to take home.

Blue Lagoon Charity Movie Night

A touch of Hollywood is coming to Noosa Junction and we're thrilled. Star of the iconic 80’s movie Blue Lagoon, Christopher Atkins is dropping by to say hi and to help raise much needed funds to assist Coolum and North Shore Coast Care volunteers care and preserve our natural environment. You'll get to watch the much-loved movie with the man himself. Sounds like a great night out to us.

Canon Collective x Visit Sunshine Coast Photography Festival

Budding photographers, get amongst this! The Canon Collective team are coming right here to little ol’ Mooloolaba to run a series of incred workshops for the Sunshine Coast Photography Festival. Some of your fave local businesses are hosting events (ie. Pier 33, Mantra Mooloolaba and the Noosa Cruiser) where the Canon Collective ambassadors will be on hand to show you the tips and tricks of the trade.

Queensland Garden Expo 

Calling all green thumbs and plant serial killers alike. If you're interested in all things gardening than this is the place for you. There will be over 360 exhibitors and loads of indoor plants featured at this expo. 'Cause nothing is more 2018 coolness than indoor plants. There will also be free demos and live stage events offering tips on how to keep all those pretty plants alive and thriving.

Did somebody say Open Mic Night? Oh yeah we did! Just come along to watch – it should be a ripper of an evening.

Velothon Sunshine Coast

If cycling is right up your alley, register now for Velothon Sunshine Coast! Because one day on a bike is just not enough, this three-day event brings together the best elements of European rides - our stunning home region as the location, an epic race set-up, and a world-class experience on and off the bike! Not keen on participating? You can still experience the Velothon fun, with a dedicated Velo Clubhouse right on the river at Cotton Tree Park open for riders, fam and friends to relax and share in the Velothon experience.

Noosa Long Weekend Presents Noosa Alive 

When it comes to events on the Coast, Noosa really gets the crème de la crème, don’t they? Like come on, they’ve literally just wrapped up Noosa Food and Wine, and now they get Noosa Alive. RUDE. But we’ll let it go this time around, because Noosa is within arm’s reach, meaning we get to go to all the amazing events they host. Anyway, we digress. Noosa Alive is one of these ‘amazing events’ and is an epic festival of theatre, literature, music, dance, film, visual arts, cuisine and forums. Yep, it’s ten jam-packed days of arts and culture! Nambour Winter Jazz Fest 

July is clearly the month of jazz, with the Nambour Winter Jazz Fest also happening this month! Music lovers and jazz enthusiasts can get amongst the variety of workshops and shows, which run at various times throughout the day, plus there’s free entertainment in the courtyard for all to enjoy! Nothing soothes the soul like the sweet sounds of jazz music, so we reckon this one’s worth a looksie.   

What: Saturday 21 July
Time: 12pm to 9:30pm.

Pomona King Of The Mountain

Pomona King Of The Mountain may sound like some kind of fun cartoon you could watch hungover on a Sunday, but it’s not. It’s really, really not. Instead, if you dare to take part (read: cheer from the sidelines), you’ll be witnessing crazy fitnessy people who race from the middle of Pomona, up Mt Cooroora and down again in a ridiculous time. In fact, the fastest time on record was 22 minutes 43 seconds. It beats our two-hour dillydally, but whatevs.

Intro To Throwing Workshop

Are you a lover of alll things arty? Do you have a sense of adventure? Then this is the event for you! Have a crack at making your own ceramics over fine wine, hosted by the lovely peeps at Syndicate Creative. It's for beginners so why not give it a go!

Oh Mon Dieu! Ooh la la! For two glorious days, we’ll be living that French life as the Sunshine Coast French Festival takes over Kings Beach. Yep, soak up the fabuleux culture, cuisine and lifestyle of one of the world’s sexiest nationalities. Still not convinced on adding it to your calendar? There’s a Wine Pavilion. Mother Picnic Meet @ One Block Back 

Calling all yummy mummies (current and future)! One Block Back has created a mothers’ picnic meet every Tuesday to meet other mums, chat all things baby (or not) and enjoy delicious food and drink! High chairs and change tables will be provided, but feel free to BYO blanket and toys.

Christmas In July @ Montville Cafe, Bar and Grill 

Being winter and all, ‘tis the season for mulled wine (or a fine red) and hearty, yummy meals – and the Montville Pub has answered our prayers! They’ll be serving a festive Christmas in July menu on all Friday and Saturday nights throughout the month – four courses for just $45 per person! Honey-baked ham, roast vegies and gravy, and plum pudding with brandy custard are just some of the highlights of the menu…so if you’re in need of a little festive cheer this month, the Montville Pub is the place for you.
