Screw diamonds. Flowers are a girl’s best friend. And although we have a few fave florists on the Sunshine Coast, right here, right now, it’s all about Flax Flower Collective…but not as you know it.

Sounds cryptic, we know. But it’s pretty simple really. After almost 10 years with a gorgeous store in the heart of Coolum Beach, Flax Flower have just moved to a different location and their new digs are totally up our alley.

Taking over a warehouse space at the back of Coolum, there’s no escaping the “ooohhh I love it” that is bound to tumble out of your mouth the minute you lay eyes on it. With a baby pink roller door, buckets of grab-and-go country flowers, and tables of succulents sitting out front, this is one scenario where you can definitely judge a book by its cover. Or, in this case, a florist by its exterior.

Run by the incredibly talented Amanda Court, if you’ve ever bought flowers at the northern end of the Coast, had a wedding or another special event, chances are you’ve crossed paths with “Flax”. And deservedly so. Their floral creations are next-level and will even have anti-flower peeps in awe.

Step inside the new Flax Flower Collective and it’s what we’d imagine flowerland to look like. There’s vases packed with just-picked blooms, a workshop area where you can see said blooms being turned into stunning bouquets and a concise selection of local products, like bath goods from Soak Society. Plus, you’ll find giant fiddle leaf figs, rubber plants and gorgeously wrapped ferns, all up for grabs and all making the perfect gift for that next house-warming, birthday…you name it. And, they’re super reasonably priced, too. Can we get a ‘heck yeah!’

As well as the space and the so-nice-you-just-want-to-sit-and-chat-with-a-cuppa staff, we were pretty damn excited to find out that Flax will soon be introducing floral workshops to the warehouse, in the not so distant future. From Christmas wreath how-tos and floral tablescapes, to learning how to style a vase full of flowers, these classes are something you’re going to want to jump on, stat. And don’t worry, we’ll let you know as soon as the deets and dates are locked in.

There’s a lot of amazingness coming out of Flax Flower, but our fave newest addition to their offerings has gotta be the drive-thru flower stop. Just like a drive-thru bottle shop but different, because flowers, you or your S.O. can literally drive through to Flax, stay in the car, have a bunch of blooms passed through the window to you in seconds and then cruise on home. How awesome is that?! Choose between $30 seasonal posies, plants, or seriously brighten someone’s day with sunflowers (just $15). If you want to give it a whirl, drive down Greenoaks Drive, turn left when you see a Flax sign, grab your flowers and then drive through to exit onto Yandina Coolum Road—it’s that simple.

Well, that’s about it folks. We could get into more nitty-gritty, but we know you’d rather check it out for yourselves IRL. So, next time you’re driving past Coolum Beach, drop in and say hello to Amanda and her team—we bet you won’t leave empty-handed.
