What's Open On The Coast This Boxing Day

By Sophie Wright - 26 Dec 2016

Aaaannnd that’s a wrap! Christmas is officially done and dusted for another year… so what now?

We know, Christmas 2016 was a big one. You’re still nursing bruises from shopping centre trolleys, you feel like you don’t need to eat another bite until February, and the available funds in your bank account are a tad dismal. Nevertheless, Boxing Day is a public holiday, and public holidays must NEVER go to waste, people!

Before you get your knickers in a twist, we’ve done all the hard work for you. All you have to do is rock up to one of these eight spots open on the Sunshine Coast this Boxing Day.

We heart Hamptons Espresso any day of the week, and we heart them even more because they’re opening bright and early the day after Christmas Day. This cutie-patootie café in Buderim has your back, keeping caffeine levels where they should be from 7am ‘til 11am. Avoid the Boxing Day sale crowds and browse their range of beautiful décor and gift ideas from Botticelli House instead.
Where: 2/9 Goshawk Boulevard, Buderim

There’s no better place to start your post-Christmas cleanse than Mooloolaba’s CK Coffee Bar and Wholefoods! Opening their doors to the masses from 6am-4pm, the kitchen is open from 6.30am-2pm, bringing you not just all day breakfast, but all day lunch too. Winner winner chicken dinner!
Where: 17 Brisbane Road, Mooloolaba

The lovely folk at Decisions are keepin’ it real this Boxing Day, open from 6am ‘til 3pm. Kick off your health-inspired New Year’s Resolutions early, or don’t—the choice is yours! They’ll be serving up superfood or superjunk brekkies and lunches from 7am-2.30pm, as well as yummy drinks and treats all day long.
Where: 10 Capital Place, Birtinya

Old Caloundra fave, Drift Bar is open for business as usual this Boxing Day. Like to start the day off with a big breakfast? Sorted. Fancy a long lunch by the water? Done. Keen to continue the holiday party with a boozy dinner? Always. You name it, Drift have got you covered.
Where: 30 The Esplanade, Bulcock Beach

One of Caloundra’s newest spots is delivering all the right stuff this Boxing Day. Nestled in Rumba Resort, this lush poolside bar will take you to a place far, far away from the madness that was Christmas. Sip on your mojito, nibble on some calamari, and watch the time go by. 26 Degrees is keeping locals hydrated from 10am…it’s 5 o’clock somewhere, right?
Where: Rumba Resort, 10 Leeding Terrace, Caloundra

When you hear the word brewery, you often think pub-grub… but Wild Rocket is absolutely the exception to the rule! This “little bit fancy” restaurant in the heart of Montville is a slice of hinterland heaven. The craft beers aren’t the only thing made on site—sausages, bread, sauces, jams, and chutneys are all pretty much made right in front of you. Open from 11.30am-2.30pm and 5pm-8pm, Wild Rocket is bound to be a hit with family and friends alike this Boxing Day.
Where: 142 Main Street, Montville

A relative newbie to the Noosa food scene, Providore on Hastings ticks all the boxes. Pop by for a coffee and a croissant and soak up the sunshine on the terrace, or grab some goodies to go and plonk yourselves on the beach for the ultimate rest day. If you’re a planner, we also recommend paying the deli a visit to create the ultimate cheese platter for your New Year’s Eve party. Noosa’s fave new deli-café is open from 7am-7pm this Boxing Day.
Where: 75 Hastings Street, Noosa Heads

If you didn’t get enough meat in your tum on Christmas Day, never fear, Bordertown is here! This Noosaville BBQ joint is serving up cold beers, summery cocktails, and epic burgers from 11am onwards. Don’t worry guys, they also have vego options too…we’ve heard their mushroom burger is on fleek.
Where: 253 Gympie Terrace, Noosaville
