Winnie Opens Its Doors In Woombye & It's Adorable!

By Claire Plush - 05 Feb 2017

Guys, it’s official! Winnie, created by the folks behind Little Boat Espresso in Marcoola has finally thrown open its doors in Woombye and it’s seriously adorable. Woot woot!

It’s been a long time coming, with the guys getting the keys and us spreading the news of its impending arrival back in November last year. But now that Winnie is pumping out coffee and sumptuous brunch dishes, we’re already wondering how we lived without it.

This is probably a good time to tell you the following images will make you want to paint your house white, including your floorboards, create breakfasts that are like works of art, and have you hunting down straw umbrellas because your yard would just look “so much better” if they were in it. You have been warned.

Nestled in the main street of Woombye, owners Sara, Leon and Jess have spent months transforming what was a totally little shopfront into the most beautifully lit, intimate café we reckon the Coast has seen.

They say good things come in small packages, and based on Winnie, we’d wholeheartedly agree. There’s a couple of tables inside, a sweets and bread stand, a coffee station, and an impressively small kitchen space where the most stunning dishes you’ve ever laid eyes on are pulled together. Outside, there’s a deck space shaded by big umbrellas, where we could totally imagine gathering our mates for a weekend catch-up over cups of Vintage Black coffee (soy, almond, and lactose-free milk are all available).

The all-day brunch menu is a more refined version of what’s on offer at Little Boat Espresso, but you’ll be more than equipped to spoil your belly with the likes of rose Water coconut sago with pistachios, Woombye figs, basil and spiced syrup; the brioche with nitrate-free bacon, free range eggs, chipotle mayo and house-made dill pickles; or, the granola with piped Barambah yoghurt panna cotta, poached stone fruit and mint. Our fave though, has gotta be the smashed avo with house-marinated feta, local herbs and radish on toast. Put simply, if you want a boring brekkie, you’ve come to the wrong spot.

Opening from Wednesday through to Sunday, if you’re hanging around Woombye anytime soon, you’d be crazy not to stop by. And if you’re not? Well, checking out this cute-as-a-button café is a very good reason to jump in the car and head that way. Trust us, it’ll be worth it!

Where: 13A Blackall Street, Woombye

Opening Hours: Wednesday to Friday from 6am to 3pm, Saturday and Sunday from 6.30am to 2.30pm
