Belles Hot Chicken has rolled out not one, but two delicious and newsworthy limited-edition creations over the past fortnight. And trust us, you’re going to want to get around both.

The Katsu Sandwich

Last week, the kings of juicy fried chicken, natural wine and mouth-watering burgers revealed a limited-edition katsu sandwich, created to honour the Maisen Katsu Sando that can be found everywhere from Fukuoka to Kyoto as part of their Kyoto Protocol Japanese-inspired pop-up menu.

Belles founder and executive chef Morgan McGlone is a massive fan of the classic Japanese sandwich. “Katsu is one of my all-time favourite dishes in Japanese cuisine,” he says. “I love pork, beef and ebi (prawn) and I eat it every time I travel there. Our chicken katsu sandwich is my answer to the Maisen Katsu that I’ve eaten on over 30 visits to Japan.”

Made with breaded pork cutlets, McGlone has combined the best of Belles with the Japanese favourite. You’ll get Belles famous fried chicken in a panko crumb, served up with Japanese mayo, Tonkatsu Bull-Dog sauce, and shredded cabbage—all served on a seedless milk bun. And you can wash it down with a Yuzu Spritz for $12, developed by the team’s boss of booze, Christian Robertson.

The Ultimate Fried Chicken Sandwich

Hope you’re still hungry, because as of today Belles has also re-released a neat little sando collab with PappaRich. Called “The Ultimate Fried Chicken Sandwich”, the duo dropped the sandwich last year but have decided to dish it out again because, well, it’s epic.

The sandwich features McGlone’s signature fried chicken, Malaysian slaw drenched with coconut vinegar and Pappa's secret sauce, layered between PappaRich’s soft and fluffy Hainan Bread. Heaven.

Both sandwiches are here for a good time, not a long time—so you'll want to make your way down to Belles for the katsu, and over to PappaRich for the Ultimate Fried Chicken Sandwich as soon as humanly possible.
