Sydney, we’ve just been given one more reason to celebrate summer and it’s upstairs at Merivale’s masterpiece, Coogee Pavilion. The glistening new rooftop is the latest installment of the vast three-storey venue, and features four indoor and outdoor bars, sweeping coastal views and mouthwatering bar snacks.
Executive Chef Jordan Toft has taken the reins in the kitchen, preparing an Eastern Mediterranean menu, which brings into play the ancient technique of cooking over charcoal. Think kefta cheese meatballs with lemon tahini and Lebanese bread, charred squid with ink vinaigrette and Aleppo peppers, and salted pork neck skewers with fresh dill and tzatziki. Seriously, you’ll be licking your plate clean and don’t worry, we won’t judge.
Drinks-wise there’s a long list of summertime cocktails, pitchers for four and cold-pressed highballs (for those adhering to their new year’s resolutions). You’ll want to try the Avion blanco with carrot, orange and ginger, the cold-drip espresso martini and the Coogee breeze with pink grapefruit and pomegranate.
Situated just metres from the sand and surf, this buzzing new Sydney bar is set to become Coogee’s most popular hangout. See you on the rooftop!
