Beer and ice cream. Winning combo, or worst idea ever?
What if this hypothetical bubbly, creamy collab had the gelato legends at Messina in charge of ice cream, and Australian Brewery, one of Sydney’s leading craft brewers, in charge of beer? Yes, ok. Our interest is piqued.
As of today and just in time for summer, gelato beer is no longer a hypothetical, and this collab is a reality that you’ll be able to sip as of December. Gelato Messina and Australian Brewery have created a dulce de leche flavoured tinnie.
Forged through trial and error at the Australian Brewery in Rouse Hill using a special batch of Messina's absolutely iconic dulce de leche, Gelato Ale, as it has been called, is smooth, foamy and slightly sweet with a complex malt character. The beer’s fruity tones complement the caramel, and it is a total summer crowd-pleaser.
Expect to see it on taps at select Sydney pubs from Sunday 1 December, as well as at all Dan Murphy’s bottle shops.
