From the team that brought us St. Jude on Bourke Street, comes their latest venture, Three Queens on King. The bright and airy Sydney café is nestled at the city-end of Newtown, and is the perfect spot to eat like royalty.
For breakfast it’s staples like eggs on toast with smoked tomato relish, Croque Madame and the Three Queens Omelette. In fact, you’ll find eggs smacked on most things here. So, if you’re looking for something a tad more daring, go all out with apple fritters laden with toffee sauce, or a toad in a hole with smoked bacon butter. Both delicious.
Lunch features a selection of hearty salads and sandwiches as well as a rotating hot dish of the day. Standouts include the tequila chicken with coriander, avocado, tomato and lettuce, slow-roasted harissa lamb with cous cous and labna, and soft shell crab with spicy tomato, mayo and Spanish onion salsa.
They also do a great coffee, with beans from RUSH roasting co in Bowral, which will appease your afternoon slump. We’d recommend pairing it with a pick from their tasty selection of desserts.
Relaxed and understated, Three Queens on King is a welcome addition to Newtown’s vibrant food scene, and a must on your hit list of Sydney’s best cafes.
