The (Almost) A – Z Of Health And Beauty

By Ellie Schneider - 19 Jan 2015

Has the festive season left you a little worse for wear? Well, to help you get back into shape and looking your beautiful self, we’ve put together an (almost) A-Z guide to health and beauty in Sydney. Because it’s beach season, people, and the sun waits for no one.

Acupuncture

Are the first few weeks back at work getting you down? Well, going under the needle so to speak has countless health benefits and is great for stress relief, boosting energy and clearing your head. Our favourite spots are Daniel Waldman Pain Relief Clinic and Rozelle Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine Centre.

Barber Shops

Fellas, your overgrown facial hair may have been acceptable on holidays but we’re half way through January! Take a trip down memory lane at Barber Supreme, Sterling Hairdressing Parlour and The Barber Shop with a good old buzz cut and traditional cut-throat razor shave. You’ll look prim and proper in no time.

Colourists

Blonde, red, pink, purple or green, when colouring your hair you’ll want to make sure you’re in good hands. To help you achieve the perfect hue, check in with our good friends at DD&Co, Esstudio and People Hairdressing.

Dance

Getting fit isn’t all about slogging it out at the gym. A great way to keep in shape is to let the rhythm (or lack thereof) take control. From burlesque to ballet, hip hop to dancehall, there’ll be a Sydney studio for your two left feet. We love Dance Central and Sydney Dance Company.

Eyebrows

There’s nothing worse than bad brows (trust us, we know!). Step away from the tweezers and into The Brow Bar, The Powder Room or Eyebrow Experts. You’ll thank us later.

Facials

If your skin’s feeling the affects of the festive season, it might be time to spoil yourself with a luxurious (and blemish-ridding) facial. After a visit to Maya Medispa or Polished Beauty Bar, your face will be left glowing and squeaky clean.

Gluten-Free

Looking to ditch the gluten? We’ve searched high and low for Sydney’s tastiest gluten-free breakfasts, lunches, dinners and desserts that won’t mean missing out on the good stuff.

Hair Style

New year, new you? Or something like that. Get a totally new look at some of Sydney’s best hair salons including RAW Anthony Nader, Marli Rose Hairdressing and Oscar Oscar. Why not try something new with your locks because the best thing about hair is that it grows back.

IPL Treatments

Contrary to what we said above, not all hair growing back is a good thing. Which is why IPL and laser hair removal is a god-send to those who love not the waxing, shaving and plucking. Reduce hair for good at Laser Clinics and Clearskincare Clinics.

Keratin

For timesaving tresses there’s little better than a keratin treatment. The talented team at Prema will help you bid farewell to the frizz and say hello to smoother, straighter locks. Yes please!

Make Up

For those whose social calendar if quickly filling up with weddings and parties galore, you’ll want to put your best face forward and secure an appointment with one of Sydney’s leading make up artists. Step into Mecca Cosmetica, Dior or Napoleon Perdis, and walk out feeling like a million bucks!

Nails

Getting a good manicure in Sydney can be a hit and miss affair. Luckily, the lovely staff at Miss Frou Frou, The Nail Lounge and The Nail Lab will ensure your double digits always look their best.

Organic

They say you are what you eat, which is why we’re lining our pantries with goodies from Smiths Organic Markets, Naked Foods and The Health Emporium. It’s time to say goodbye to your morning donut, and whip up some nutritious superfood muffins to share around the office.

Paleo

For those joining the Paleo bandwagon, Sydney is home to some brilliant Paleo-friendly cafes. Some of our favourites include Paleo Café, The Suveran and Aboutlife.

Remedial Massage

In desperate need of some me-time? Get your R&R with one of Sydney’s best massages. You’ll find them at endota day spa, Fleur de Lys Medispa and SpaQ, where you’ll leave feeling all brand new.

Spa Days

What better way to congratulate yourself for getting through the first few weeks back at work than with a spa day? Treat yo self to facials, massage, scrubs and all manners of beauty treatments at The Day Spa at The Langham and Endota Day Spa.

Tanning

It’s no secret that here at TUL we’re little obsessed with spray tans. But we wouldn’t trust just anyone to give us that golden glow, no. Tan Temple are experts in their field and it is no wonder why Sydney goddesses flock here from far and wide.

Vegan

No longer to vegans need to settle for the lone salad on the menu, Sydney is now brimming with delicious vegan cafes and restaurants. You’ll find some of Sydney’s most soulful food at Earth to Table, Orchard Street Elixir Bar and Sadhana Kitchen.

Waxing

There is little more personal in the realm of beauty than getting waxed (just thinking about it makes us squeal). And while it’s never one of those super fun things to do, the ladies at Aleisha-Jane, The Facial Room and Fields of Beauty will make it that much more pleasant.

eXfolation (we tried!)

No more dry, flaky skin for you! Get your skin lovingly polished at Polished Beauty Bar and Ella Bache and feel silky smooth for days after.

Yoga

One of the best ways to unwind from daily stresses is to practice yoga. We love getting our downward dog on at In Yoga, BodyMindLife and Sky-Lab. After just one of their classes we’re feeling a lot more zen about everything.

Zzz

Yep, we’re talking sleep. If you get a good night’s worth of the zzz’s then you’re bound to feel a gazillion times better the next day. They don’t call it beauty sleep for nothing!
