Sydney's weather has been pretty dreary these past few weeks. Seems a few of our best chefs have cottoned on, and are planning to ship up north for a few days of sunshine—and to take part in a brand new food festival called The Curated Plate.
This four-day food extravaganza is set to be hosted in one of our absolute favourite sunny regions in Australia—so sunny in fact, someone called it the Sunshine Coast. The festival is set to debut in August, and we suggest you set aside some annual leave because it's looking like an unmissable delicious beachy dream.
So here’s the run down. The Curated Plate will take place from August 8 to 11, and will be a 4-day celebration of the joy of food, showcasing the best chefs from Australia and around the globe. The festival aims to promote the relationship between chef and producer, and encourages guests to immerse themselves in the flavours and enjoy a unique culinary experience that foregrounds local produce and sustainable farming practices.
As for which of our favourite Sydney chefs are heading up, you can expect to see Peter Gilmore of Quay "snow egg" fame, Troy Rhoades-Brown who earned Muse in the Hunter Valley two hats, and chef Chase Kojima from Sokyo.
Nelly Robinson (nel.), who's definitely one of the most creative and artistic chefs we've ever encountered, will also be strutting his stuff at The Curated Plate.
There is a plethora of events rolling throughout the festival, including a wild forage dining experience, a Feijoa Fiesta, a beach cinema, a food fair at Black Swan Park, and more. The festival will celebrate the very best of the Sunshine Coast and all it has to offer, with events scattered from the coastline to the heart of the hinterland. More events are yet to be announced too, so keep your eyes on The Curated Plate website for more details.
