Beau

Taking up a laneway corner up the street from its sibling, NOMAD, Beau is a two-part venue. Expect freshly baked manoush and Middle Eastern flavours at the bright and sun-kissed Beau & Dough bakery-cafe, and a seafood-driven menu and snacks in Beau Bar, a sultry wine bar hidden further down the lane.

The oiled-up and za’atar-sprinkled manoush flatbreads are a Lebanese staple, and are on the takeaway menu topped with labne and spiced lamb, or halva, pistachio and honey, or available as abundant breakfast boards with tomato, cucumber, pickles, labneh, sheep’s milk feta, olives and broken eggs. Come midday, the lunch menu includes kofta wraps, spiced chicken shawarma, and a vegetable plate of fried cauliflower with zhug and tahini, roast pumpkin and baba, silverbeet and muhammara.

In the tucked-away Beau Bar, which boasts a temperature-controlled wine wall behind its sleek black bar, the food remains fun and playful while focusing on seafood and snacks to be paired with the extensive beverage offering. Think a chilled seafood platter, cuttlefish a la Plancha; ox-tongue and lobster bun, and flank steak with frites. 

The bar’s drinks list stays true to NOMAD Group’s ethos, with 300 wines (a significant proportion being Australian), spirits and beers, all with a focus on being dynamic and unique, and classic cocktail ingredients substituted for Australian creations where possible

The laneway site, running between Reservoir and Foster Streets, offers a variety of spaces and seating options, with 100 spots on offer across Beau & Dough, Beau Bar, outdoor seating on Reservoir Street, and an internal laneway. There’s also a rooftop space available exclusively for private events.

Beau & Dough is open seven days from 7am til late. Beau Bar is open seven days from 12pm for lunch and 5pm for dinner.
