Brisbane's really striding out this year with the quality of festivals we've had so far—any excuse for alfresco dining and upping our culture dose amiright?—but just when you thought Brissy had peaked in the coolness stakes, southside cool guy West End goes and takes the cake: behold, the West End Street Art Festival!
Celebrating the immense talent of local and Aussie street artists, come down to Boundary Street on October 22 and encounter some of the best street art in the country. Walls will be covered in incredible, custom-made street art and murals all along Boundary Street by Drapl, Leans, Treas, David Hougton, Mr Mupz, the Brightsiders, Kate Hallen plus many more.
The day will feature over 100 stalls showcasing the best QLD art, design and local handcrafted wares, 30 food stalls form some of the best in Brisbane, live music, and some incredible live painting exhibitions all towards celebrating art, design and handcrafted wares. Sign us the heck up!
Co-organisers Ihab Imam and Jenna Williams want to spread the message that street art shouldn’t be hidden in laneways, but something that beautifies our streetscapes, aiming to make art accessible—and we totally agree. Not only that, but the pair aim to raise over $10,000 for Orange Sky Laundry, a charity that assists homeless youths around Australia. Tickets for the festival are $10 on the door, or $5 pre-sale. bargain if you ask us!
Eat, drink and be merry all for a seriouly great cause while celebrating some of the finest Bribane street art on offer. Brisbane, we bow down!
