The weekend isn’t over until sunrise on Monday. That means that Sunday afternoon is still fair game for fun, frivolities, and the birth of regret. And with this crisper weather biting at your chops, what better than a sneaky Sunday sesh to warm you up and have you home in time to watch the tennis? Nothing, that’s what.

Here are some killer joints to hit up on Sunday afternoon and toast the weekend that was:

Keep it easy and breezy this Sunday with a wig out at the Regatta. They’ve got plenty of snacks to go with your Sunday steins, and you can always wrap up the weekend with a steak at the Boatshed if bigtime hunger calls.

UP on Constance

Fortitude Valley

This skyscraping rooftop bar has become a Brisbane favourite, brimming with fabulous concoctions, and perfectly situated with a panoramic view of our marvelous city. End your weekend on a high at UP on Constance.

Woolly Mammoth

Fortitude Valley

Teeming with live music, craft beers, and a sturdy menu of munches you’d leave the house for, Woolly Mammoth’s casual atmosphere is nothing short of idyllic on a Sunday arvo. Come down for a listen and a tipple, and escape the looming reality of work on Monday…

Spicers Balfour Hotel

New Farm

Any dandies and gentlefolk who thought this list wouldn’t have anything for them, think again. The quaint and chipper Spicers Balfour Hotel is an ideal Brisbane bar for anyone haplessly pining for a shard of tranquility to get moderately sloshed in.

Gerard’s Bar

New Farm

Kick back at Gerard’s Bar for Apertivo Sunday and give yourself up to the grape. Besides their usual array of nectarous wine and cured meats, every inch of Gerard’s radiates with golden warmth to stave off the winter blues and gently ease you into weekend’s end.

Socialites Bar

Spring Hill

The newest character on Brisbane’s sloshscape is 1920s themed drinking lounge, the Socialites Bar. How else to better honour that theme than with an imprudently thorough soaking on the Sabbath? Take your sharp threads for a spin with your main lad and share a laugh over the Socialite’s super refreshing signature drink: spiced rum with pear and ginger liqueur.

Dutch Courage Officer's Mess

Fortitude Valley

Always great for exotic cocktails and a quality feed, Dutch Courage is perfect at the tail end of a big weekend for some well-earned R&R and a cheeky refill of your dwindling tank.

The Morrison Hotel

The Morrison’s Naked Whisky Bar is the perfect place to wile away a crisp Sunday over a glass or two of smoky, amber juice. They serve over 200 warming whiskies so you can safely pencil in the next three months of Sunday sessions at the Morrison and never have the same drink twice.

Notorious swillhounds, the guys at Canvas are artists of the drunk delight. Head down to this comfy, sunken nook with your regular squad and sit out the end of the weekend in premium leather-bound comfort.

Customs House

Brisbane CBD

This Brisbane bar may have been overlooked in your never ending search for anywhere open on a Sunday afternoon, but let us assure you that for a mellow champagne (or perhaps a delightful Pimms punch jug) on the river Customs House is a purely spectacular spot.
