If you’re still recovering from the big fat onslaught of awesome that was Rembrandt and the Dutch Golden Age hitting up our shores, it’s time to get excited all over again. Another heavy hitter is coming to Australia later this year, and this time, it’s a casual 65 paintings from St Petersburg’s Hermitage Museum for the exhibition Modern Masters from the Hermitage.
The exhibition will be hitting Sydney this October so you definitely have time to find a cheap airfare—we have a feeling it’ll be worth it. The works will be focused around the late 19th and early 20th centuries—we’re talking about eight works from Picasso and another eight from Matisse. There’ll also be a couple thrown in from Monet, Cézanne, Kandinsky, and Gaugin. No big deal.
We joke—this is a very big deal. Tune in here for more details as they come out.
