The List | Everything We’re Loving This Month

By Kim Barnard
27th May 2015

Each month one member of The Urban List team will be sharing their current obsessions, and—shock—not all of it’s edible!

This month, Urban List Content Director, Kim Barnard shares her new favourite everythings: from the best burger, to her new Apple watch, here’s what on her radar.

Apple Watch by Apple (der)

Sure, I don’t really know how it works, but my new Apple watch sure does look pretty. And it tells me to stand up and move around all the time, which can’t be a bad thing. Plus, it’s making certain people in the office very jealous, which is the icing on the nerdy cake.

Rowdy Double Cheeseburger at Easey’s

There’s a definite art when it comes to creating the perfect burger, and the crew at new Melbourne burger joint, Easey’s have managed to please this burger-loving fusspot. It doesn’t hurt that the rowdy burger comes complete with a resplendent double beef patty, double American cheddar, bacon, jalapeno, pickles, onions, ketchup, and mustard. Oh, and it’s served on a train. On a rooftop. So Melbourne.

Face Hero by Go-To Skincare

Winter is here(ish), and there’s nothing worse than the dry skin that comes with the drop in temp. Which is why I’m cheering that I’ve discovered Face Hero—the latest jewel in the Go-To Skincare crown, a gorgeous little bottle of oily goodness, promising to nourish your skin and keep it protected from Old Man Winter.

Dagwood dog at Gerard’s Bar

Filled with spicy sobrassada and encased with a traditionally crispy dagwood-dog exterior, this is carnival food done right. I can’t get enough and for only $5 a pop, I’ll never have to. Especially good when washed down with one of Gerard’s Bar's perfect cheeseburgers.

True Detective on Apple TV

I know, I know, I’m about a million years behind the times and the second season is almost here, but whatever. I’ve popped my True Detective cherry and am now firmly on the bandwagon. If you haven’t watched it yet (anyone?), do yourself a favour.

The Beds at The Cullen

Hotel beds are notoriously shit. It’s just a fact. So, when you find one that you would gladly sleep on every night for the rest of your life, it’s something worth shouting from the rooftops. The Cullen’s beds have the perfect mattresses (Goldilocks would approve), excellent pillows, and glorious sheets… it all works. Bonus: if you fall as hard as I have, you can purchase one these bad boys for yourself!

Everything at ACME

We already consider ACME one of the best new restaurants in Sydney, but I went there recently and was completely blown away by every single thing I ate. It’s Italian-Japanese fusion at its absolute best (and the potato buns are what dreams are made of).

U Talkin’ U2 To Me podcast

Let me preface this by saying that I don’t even particularly like U2 these days (does anyone?), but the U Talkin U2 To Me podcast was recommended to me recently and I am hooked. It’s basically two funny guys (Adam Scott, of Parks & Rec fame, and comedian, Scott Aukerman) chatting to each other about anything and everything, with a little U2 thrown in for good measure. Many LOLs to be had, if you’re so inclined.

Golden Goose sneakers from camargue

By now, my coworkers are sick of hearing me lust over the sparkly amazingness of these perfect sneaks (from Brisbane fashion boutique, camargue) along with the constant questioning about whether or not I can pull off what are essentially sequined runners (the jury’s still out). For the sake of my office friendships, I think I need to just shut up and get a pair, already.

Jerusalem by Yotam Ottolenghi

Ok, so this is not new, but I’ve rediscovered Jerusalem recently and cannot get enough of the deliciousness within. The lamb shawarma will change your life.
