Ah, Paddington. The suburb of endless long lunches, home to as many restaurants as there are people, and always packed with hungry foodies looking for their next feed. Some of Brisbane’s best restaurants can be found round these parts, so news of a new anything in Paddington is worth a taste test!
Opening its doors in the most under-the-radar fashion back in February, Affinity has already gained a loyal following of locals (they know a good thing when they taste it), eager to try something new. Owners Tash and Grant have decades of hospitality experience under their belts (even working at internationally revered Qualia resort on Hamilton Island!) and decided a little spot in Paddington was where they wanted to stretch their culinary muscles.
Affinity restaurant brings a small but excellent mix of modern Australian, classic French, and Asian dishes to Latrobe Terrace and is the perfect little bistro to indulge in something a bit different for brekky, lunch and dinner (and not a burger bun or cronut in sight!).
From the ingredients being sourced locally, to the presentation of every meal, dining at Affinity is refined and elegant, without all the hoopla and fuss. Breakfast is a total draw card, especially with crazy-good things like stuffed French toast— Sweet egg dipped Vienna bread, pan fried then filled with marmalade, cream cheese and a side of bacon (no, we’re not kidding)— and even a breakfast tasting platter featuring corn and zucchini frittas, house made sweet potato hash and haloumi!
They’re sticklers for making practically everything in-house too, creating all of their sauces, condiments and breads right there in the Affinity kitchen (including the delish tomato relish with said epic tasting platter. Goodbye diet)!
Dinner at Affinity is fabulously indulgent, with a noticeable Euro-twist. Dishes like the chicken roulade rolled in prosciutto, twice cooked pork belly, and cuts of rib fillet steak make dining here feels more local bistro in a small French village than tropical Brisbane, but that’s part of the charm.
Now, we all know that dessert is a major draw card for the sweet-toothed, and Affinity has you well and truly covered. Their so-wrong-it’s-right chocolate Agnolotti pasta are almost worth skipping mains for! Add to that one hella good-looking cheese cart, (plus they got extra brownie points for providing parking-sweet!), and you’ll be hard pressed not to fall hard for this super-chilled new Brisbane restaurant.
