Hold onto your seats friends, because this is about the coolest thing we’ve come across all week.*
You can now literally stay in an inflatable bubble in the middle of the Icelandic wilderness and watch the Northern Lights from the comfort of your bed. How freaking amazing is that?!
Tucked away in the forest, at a secret location near Reykholt, the bubble hotel is an actual thing and it’s the perfect middle ground between sleeping in a swag under the stars and glamping.
Aptly named the 5 Million Star Hotel—because that’s all you’re going to see round these parts—there are five clear-walled bubbles to choose from, each with a comfy double bed, a lamp, enough space for a tiny bit of luggage and that’s about it. Oh, and they’re fully-heated because #Iceland.
You can tag a stay here onto a Golden Circle tour or book a bubble on its own for around $360 a night. Sure, it’s a bit of a splurge, but when you’ve travelled across the world to gaze at the night sky, you sure as hell want to up the chances of seeing the Aurora Borealis in any way you can. And, if you don’t see the colours dance, well we reckon the experience of sleeping in a B-U-B-B-L-E (!) is enough of a win to soften the burn.
Available to rent through winter and summer (hello, all-day sun), you can find out more here.
