If you love food and if you love wine (um, yes and yes?), then you’ll want to clear your calendar this weekend.
Created by NightQuarter and now in its second year, the Gold Coast Food and Wine Festival (June 1 to 4) is shaping up to be the start of something really special. Get in now, show your support and in 10 years’ time you could be bragging about attending one of the Coast’s original signature festivals.
Check out the full schedule here. From dessert tours to gin and rum tasting, oyster shucking masterclasses, a winery degustation and the ‘Taste of the Gold Coast’ food and wine tour via the GLink (the latter has just sold out, insert sad face)— there’s a bunch of goodness worth checking out.
To make things easy for you, here are four top events to put on your radar.
Local Flavour At Burleigh Brewing | Friday 2
It’s safe to bet that anything hosted by the legends at Burleigh Brewing is worthy of your precious time. So, consider your Friday night knock-off drinks sorted with Local Flavour. Starting with Burleigh Brewing’s finest local brews flowing from the taps, a bumped up brigade of food trucks (The Wiener Haus, Little Wahaca and Baracca all with special menu offerings on the night), reggae musos Jesse Morris Band taking to the small stage and free brewery tours throughout the evening. Cheers goes to Burleigh Brewing, who’ll be making a donation of $1,000 to the Give Me 5 For Kids campaign as part of the event.
Details: 3:00pm to 8:30pm; free to attend.
Location: Burleigh Brewing, 2 Ern Harley Drive, Burleigh Heads
The Long Table At Mount Tamborine | Friday 2, Saturday 3 & Sunday 4
Probably the farthest you’ll have to travel for the Gold Coast Food and Wine Festival, although still not that far, is to The Long Table luncheons on Mount Tamborine. Hosted by Witches Cheese Chase, Long Rd Bistro, Heritage Wines, and Fortitude Brewery, we reckon this sounds like a lovely afternoon adventure. Picture yourself seated at a long table inside the Fortitude Brewery complex, sampling pate, terrines and cured meats, award-winning cheeses direct from the adjoining factory, and all paired with craft beer and wine tastings. If you’re going to make the trek, might as well book yourself a mountain-top cabin for a wintery staycay.
Details: 12:30pm onwards; tickets $55 per person
Location: Witches Chase and Long Rd Bistro, 165 Long Road, Mount Tamborine
BBQ And Beats | Saturday 3
Helensvale’s NightQuarter is the official organiser and home of the Gold Coast Food and Wine Festival, and will be loaded up with side events in addition to their regular vibrant Friday and Saturday night markets. NightQuarter’s signature event of the weekend is BBQ and Beats, where a gaggle of Australia’s best BBQ masters will gather, the aromas of drool-worthy smoked meats will permeate the air and you can sample morsels of slow-cooked ribs, pork, brisket and chicken.
Details: 4pm to 10pm; $3 entry to NightQuarter
Location: NightQuarter, 1 Town Centre Drive, Helensvale
Picnic In The Park | Sunday 4
This is a picnic in the park, with a difference. While you’re encouraged to bring your blanket, nibbles and friends, if you’re not that organised, you’ll be intrigued to know the afternoon event is hosted by UberEATS! These guys have swiftly revolutionised the home delivery game across the Coast, and now they want to deliver direct to your picnic blanket. How cool is that? Head to Lionel Perry Park on Sunday afternoon, where $2 entry will get you access to live music, an on-site cash bar with Sirromet wine tastings, beers, Frose and sangria, plus the fun picnic soiree. Order UberEATS from restaurants in the Surfers Paradise/Broadbeach catchment area and use the code GCPICNIC to get $5 off your first two orders on the day.
Details: 12pm to 8pm; $2 entry
Location: Lionel Perry Park, Surfers Paradise
There is plenty more where that came from. Jump onto the website now and check out the full schedule.
