A superstar line-up of Melbourne chefs and venue owners have come together to open Rustica Canteen, Melbourne’s latest laneway eatery. As you’d expect, the baked goods are next-level, and the coffee and lunch options are drool-worthy too. The perfect place to hit up for an inner city snack.
#2: Grand Final Day = An Extra Day Off!
It doesn’t matter if you’re the biggest footy fan in the world, or don’t have a clue about Melbourne’s favourite sport—either way, you’ll have a whole extra day off to enjoy this beautiful city on Friday 2nd October. We can’t WAIT for a whole 24 hours of Netflix and Nutella in bed. Thank you, AFL!

One of Melbourne’s best pubs for American BBQ, The Gem Bar & Dining Room hosts its annual Day Of The Dead event on Hallowe’en night, making for an incredible evening of music, food, drinks and fancy dress. Ditching the traditional Hallowe’en theme, The Gem will be awarding a prize for the best Mexicano outfit on the night. Get your sugar skull facepaint game ready!

The Garage Sale Trail takes place on Saturday 24th October, inviting Melburnians to host their very own garage sale and plotting them all on one easy-to-use map. #6: Enjoy Japanese Delights At Toko
The latest addition to Melbourne’s buzzing Japanese food scene, Toko in Prahran serves up some of the best Japanese food in Australia. The prestigious restaurant currently has outposts in Dubai and Sydney, making its beautiful Melbourne venue one of the hottest new openings to check out this October. Expect top-grade sashimi, nori and sake.
#7: Run… It's the Medibank Melbourne Marathon Festival!
With more than 30,000 competitors running in a variety of races, the Medibank Melbourne Marathon Festival on Sunday 18th October is one of the biggest fitness events in Australia. Finishing up in the MCG, the full 42.2km race route covers some of Melbourne’s finest landmarks, including graffiti-covered laneways, St Kilda foreshore and Flinders Street station. If you’re not running on the day, get down there and cheer on someone who is.
#8: Eat All The Pizza At The New 400 Gradi
Johnny Di Francasco of Lygon Street pizza empire 400 Gradi is at it again with the launch of his brand new Essendon venue, which is set to open later this month. Diners can expect the usual world-class pizza standards, as well as a mouth-watering gelateria serving hand-made desserts. Delish.
#9: Drink Moonshine At New CBD Bar The Mill House

#10: Ariba! Hit the Meyers Place Latin Fiesta
Take in some awesome Latin vibes at Meyers Place on Sunday 11th October when the laneway transforms into the Meyers Palce Latin Fiesta, compete with tango bands, salsa lessons, Latin crafts and, of course, some incredible food and drinks thanks to San Telmo, Lily Blacks, Mr Big Stuff and Loop. Festivities kick off from 11am and run until 6pm, making for an epic day out.
